Faith Brown went through the recruitment process last year with the rest of the 2024 class and found a school she thought she was going to call home for the next four years, only to be blindsided by a major coaching change that left her questioning if she still wanted to be a part of that program.
The talented third-baseman from Nashville, Tennessee made the difficult, yet mature, decision to hold off on committing in light of this shift, and kept her options open as she entered her senior year.
Having a younger sister who competed on Dale Palmer’s 12U Southern Force team, Faith decided to join the 18U squad for her final year, hoping to catch the attention of the many college coaches that frequented the elite team’s tournaments.
“I was always a confident player. I believed in myself and in my abilities, until I didn’t,” shared Faith, vulnerable about the difficulties of the recruitment process going awry. “I’ve always been taught there are no days off in this sport. I enjoy the grind of softball. Working hard has never been an issue for me, but in the last two years, I became focused on the results and started doubting the process. Every time I struck out or made an error I thought, ‘I’ve blown another chance again.’”
