Extra Inning Softball continues to grow and, in addition to our search for a skilled Managing Editor, we are also looking for a softball fan who loves and knows the college space!
Specifically, we are seeking a talented and passionate Independent Contractor and/or a freelance writer to join our team.
Job Summary:
As either an Independent Contractor or freelance writer, the College Editor will be responsible for creating high-quality, engaging, and informative editorial content related to college-level fastpitch softball (all divisions of NCAA and NAIA).
Your articles and features will be published on our platform, reaching a wide audience of softball enthusiasts, coaches, players, and fans across the country.Â
This role offers you a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and promotion of fastpitch softball while establishing yourself as an expert in the field.Â
Responsibilities:
- Research and stay up to date with the latest news, trends, and developments in women’s fastpitch softball at the college level.Â
- Pitch and write original, engaging, and informative articles, features, and editorials that offer unique perspectives and insights into the college-level fastpitch softball landscape.Â
- Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and other relevant individuals to gather insights and quotes for your articles.Â
- Collaborate with our editorial team to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to our editorial guidelines.Â
- Meet assigned deadlines and manage your own schedule effectively.Â
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge and passion for women’s fastpitch softball, especially at the college level.Â
- Prove experience in sports journalism, editorial writing, or a related field, with a strong portfolio of published articles.Â
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to create compelling and error-free content.Â
- Strong research and interview skills to gather accurate and reliable information.Â
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.Â
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engines is a plus.Â
- Availability to attend college-level women’s fastpitch softball games, events, or tournaments as needed.Â
