In Case You Missed It
Last week, we announced two major initiatives aimed at enhancing how rankings are evaluated and presented across the platform. Here’s a closer look at what’s ahead:

Five-Star Rating System – Introduced with the Class of 2029, this new system adds another layer of clarity and context to individual evaluations.

Team Rankings Return – One of our most requested features is making a full comeback later this year, bringing expanded insight into programs across the country.
Both initiatives reflect our continued commitment to thoughtful, transparent coverage of the game.
Class of 2027 Uncommitted Rankings
As everyone in this space understands, not every athlete commits on September 1. For many families, the recruiting journey requires time — time to visit campuses, evaluate academic fit, build meaningful relationships with college coaches, and balance the realities of school, travel ball, and family life.
Uncommitted does not mean overlooked. It often means intentional.
This initiative was created to serve two important groups:

🎓 Student-athletes who are still pursuing their collegiate dream

Key Dates & National Rollout Schedule
The nomination window for the Class of 2027 Uncommitted Rankings will officially close on March 16, 2026. We strongly encourage families and coaches to plan accordingly.
National Honor Roll Recognition
Before rankings launch, we will recognize academic excellence through our National Honor Roll series:
- April 10, 2026 – Distinguished Prospects (GPA 3.5–3.74)
- April 11, 2026 – Select Achievers (GPA 3.75–3.99)
- April 12, 2026 – Elite Scholars (GPA 4.0+)
Academic performance remains a critical component of long-term recruiting success, and we are proud to spotlight student-athletes who excel in the classroom. The Extra Inning Softball’s Honor Roll will be published HERE!
Regional Rankings Launch
The Class of 2027 Uncommitted Regional Rankings will roll out as follows:
- April 13 – Northeast
- April 14 – Southeast
- April 15 – Midwest
- April 16 – Southwest
- April 17 – Mountain
- April 18 – West
National Position Rankings
Following the regional launches, we will unveil our national position rankings:
- April 20 – Elite 100 Pitchers
- April 21 – Extra Elite 100 Catchers
- April 22 – Extra Elite 100 Infielders
- April 23 – Extra Elite 100 Outfielders
Hitters Hot List
- April 24 – Regional Hitters Hot List
- April 25 – National Hitters Hot List
Important Nomination Reminder
We strongly encourage parents to coordinate directly with their athlete’s coach before submitting a nomination. Duplicate nominations are unnecessary, and multiple submissions do not increase the likelihood of being ranked. Nominate HERE!

We’re proud to be rated the #1 source of fastpitch coverage in the country for ages 8U–18U, and we’re only getting stronger.
How We Rank — and Why It Matters
At Extra Inning Softball, our rankings process is fueled by proprietary software that helps us organize nominations, analyze data, and identify standout performers across every position and region.
But we don’t stop at numbers. We’ve also assembled a Regional Rankings Advisory Board made up of respected head coaches, recruiting coordinators, and organizational leaders from across the country who volunteer their insights to ensure our lists reflect what’s truly happening on the field.
Our staff invests hundreds of hours per cycle researching stats, verifying performance footage, and evaluating nominations. This is not a plug-and-play system—it’s a deeply involved process that prioritizes accuracy, fairness, and reach.

Realigned Regions
We’ve spent the last two years listening, learning, and evolving. That’s why Extra Inning Softball realigned our regional system to create a more balanced and fair foundation for evaluating players. Each region offers:
- Geographical equity in competition and talent pools
- Improved visibility for players from traditionally underrepresented states
- Cleaner comparison for national rankings and Hotlists
The realignment allows us to better capture what makes players special in their part of the country—while also recognizing how they stack up on a national level.

The Class of 2027 is officially on the clock—and this moment carries weight. These Uncommitted Rankings are not simply a list of names. They identify the unsigned athletes who are ready to step into the national conversation.
College programs are still building boards. Recruiting classes are still shifting. Opportunities are still open.
