One of the top club softball programs in the East, the PA Chaos is going to have two 18U Gold teams this year—one being Joe Spina’s team which won TC/USA Nationals this year behind Auburn-bound pitcher Maddie Penta, and the other being PA Chaos 18U Gold Scarpato, which is a new team coached by Arlyn Landow.
Comprised mostly of current Chaos players, the Chaos-Scarpato team is comprised of mostly underclassmen who are seen as having “a lot of potential to be Chaos Gold players in the future,” according to Coach Landow, who adds, “My assistant coach and I will be working towards preparing them for the highest level of play.”
So why is the team named “Scarpato?” It’s an impressive gesture made by the Chaos organization leaders for the the assistant coach who has been with the program for 12 of its 21 years in existence.
“We chose ‘Scarpato’ in hopes that the team name will remain with Chaos long after my time coaching,” Landow continues. “It honors Tom Scarpato and though Tom coaches on Gold Spina, he is a longtime and cherished contributor to the Chaos program. The name was chosen to simply honor and thank him for all the amazing work he has done and the incredible amount of time he has devoted in helping make Chaos the nationally recognized program it is today.”
