Our hearts go out to current Ole Miss Freshman Brooke Barnard who has lost her father and brother to COVID—both passing in the last month–with her brother passing away on Saturday.
We received the following email from Jersey Intensity head Kevin O’Donnell last night detailing the tragic news:
It with a heavy heart that I am reaching out.
My 2021 All-American shortstop Brooke Barnard, who is now a Freshman at Ole Miss, lost her father, Curtis, 23 days ago to COVID and today, her 21-year-old brother, Chance, passed after losing his batted with COVID.
There are no words to convey the broken hearts of losing Curtis and Chance this month. Prayers for Brooke, her mother Chapman and sister Alex.

Brooke was a standout for the Intensity and was ranked #11 overall in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 and #8 in the Infield rankings.

T-11—Brooke Barnard, SS, Jersey Intensity – KOD (Ole Miss)
Brooke plays for the Intensity 18U KOD National team and possesses the skillset to be a high impact player at the next level. She is a 5-tool shortstop who can beat you with her bat, glove, arm or speed. Her overhand throw speed has been clocked in the high 60’s and her smooth glove puts her in an elite class. At the dish, Brooke has a beautiful swing and can drive the ball to all fields. She is consistently hitting in the mid .400s every season and always at the top of the team stats list in home runs, runs and RBIs. When Brooke gets hot, no one can slow her down as shown last summer at the Boulder IDT tourney when she went 11-for-16 with three home runs and two doubles. Brooke is a two-time 1st Team Florida All-State selection (Class 9A) and committed to Ole Miss in Sept. of 2019.
