College: Week 7 Roundup… Oh, How Sweep It Is!

Conference play either began or continued across the nation this week for most Division I teams, as each of the Power Five conferences are now entrenched in the throes of league play, with a handful of mid-major conferences the sole outliers from making that a universal statement.

As we recap the week that was, let’s take a look at some of the series sweeps that took place over the weekend and their long-term implications.

LSU over Georgia

The hard-hitting Tigers’ offense seems unstoppable, while the Bulldogs are fading fast after a hot start to the year. LSU now sits at 7-2 in conference play and scored twenty-four runs in the three-game set that took place in Athens. The trio of victories continued a torrid run through conference play for LSU, who earned their first conference sweep and now have three straight series wins in league play. Shelbi Sunseri continued her all-American caliber season with a 6-for-9 showing, with three doubles, a home run, and eight RBI.
