Welcome to Dear Younger Me, a heartfelt series from Extra Inning Softball featuring letters from our 2026 Commit Crew as they prepare for their senior year and reflect on the journey that brought them here. These are raw, reflective messages to their younger selves—full of wisdom, gratitude, and perspective earned through years of hard work, faith, and personal growth.
This week, we hear from Maddie Watson, a Southern Miss commit whose story is grounded in perseverance, quiet strength, and deep love for the game. From muddy fields to blazing summer tournaments, Maddie has poured herself into the sport with grit and grace. But what truly sets her apart is the way she’s used softball to shape not only her skills—but her character.
Keep reading to hear what Maddie would say to the little girl with the oversized glove and even bigger dreams.
