Elena Krause Forges Own Path to Stanford

Growing up with a sister who is an outstanding softball player and also achieves at a high rate academically can be challenging. But Elena Krause wouldn’t want it any other way.

Her family is ultra competitive as her mother Amy played softball at Illinois State, her father Jake played baseball at Olivet Nazarene and her sister Regan currently plays on a Stanford team that advanced to the Women’s College World Series in 2023.

Krause, who is ranked as one of the top high school players in the state of Illinois, recently announced she will follow her sister and attend Stanford University.

“The recruiting process went great. Stanford was a top choice, and I absolutely loved it on campus.

“The coaches at Stanford coached my sister, the campus is beautiful, facilities are top notch, and it just felt like home. I am excited to get there in a few years,”

Krause has produced an outstanding career at Pontiac Township High School in Pontiac, Ill., and with her travel team the Beverly Bandits Premier.

Krause is on pace to become a four-year varsity starter for Pontiac Township and was named First Team All-State 2A by the Illinois Coaches Association last year.

During the travel ball season, Krause pitched to a 1.77 earned run average and struck out 91 batters in 75 innings pitched. At the plate she hit at a .434 clip.

She also earned the distinction of being the 500th verbal commit for head coach Bill Conroy.

Her ability to pitch and play the field likely make her a great fit at Stanford where she will join a pitching staff that includes NiJaree Canady who was named the TUCCI/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year in 2023.

Krause is a force in the circle as she has a live arm, easy motion and her ball moves.

As an all-conference, all-tournament and first team all-state player, Krause has been dominant. Included in her arsenal of pitches is a fastball and an outstanding change up. What sets Krause apart from others is her ability to change speeds and the ability to control multiple pitches in any count.

Drawing inspiration from role models such as Monica Abbot, Michael Jordan and her sister Regan, Krause surrounds herself with goals and positivity.

But before moving on to Stanford, Krause and her Beverly Bandits team will compete for another PGF national championship. Additionally she will lead her Pontiac Township squad as one of the more highly ranked players in the state of Illinois.
