Event News: Players in the 4 The Heroes High School All-Star Game Honor Those Who Serve

Catcher Hannah Kollmansberger says of the 4 The Heroes foundation: “(It) makes sure no hero goes unforgotten.”

The 1st annual 4 The Heroes High School All-Star Game will take place a week from tomorrow—on Tuesday, June 4 at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas—and will feature 50 top senior softball players.

The game will kick off at 7 pm CST and will be streamed live on Extra Inning Softball.

The guiding force behind the game featuring high school senior graduates, some of who will play for Big 12 and ACC programs, is the 4 The Heroes Foundation.

The organization was formed in 2013 to honor military, first responders and their families with the main purpose, according to John Bacon, the Chairman of the Board for the organization, “to make sure that those heroes are never forgotten.”

On this Memorial Day, we thought it would be appropriate to ask several of the players in the game what they think of those who have served in behalf of our country and their thoughts on what the 4 The Heroes Foundation means to them…

Alyssa Flores

The organization’s mission as a whole personally means a lot to me because I have a sister that is currently active military in South Korea. She gives up a lot to ensure that we here at home can have all the freedoms that we do, so giving back and supporting all military personal means a lot to me.
— C Alyssa Flores, St. Mary’s H.S.

Honoring those who have served for us is very important to me because both of my grandfathers and other relatives have served our great country.
— OF Annie Wallace, Boerne Champion H.S.

I’m proud that there is an organization that honors our fallen heroes because my uncle Rocky Riojas is one of the officers that is honored throughout this organization and I love that they pay a tribute to everyone who has given their life to serve and protect us.
— C Bella Sanchez, St. Anthony Catholic H.S.

It is an extreme honor to have been invited to play in this game.  Not only do I get to compete against the area’s best competition, but I also get to represent a cause that’s bigger than just softball.  I am proud to be paying respect to our first responders and our military because they are our true heroes.
— IF Gabrielle Katch, Sandra Day O’Connor H.S.

Catherine Pisano

The personal experiences I have had with this organization over the past year has opened my eyes to the sacrifice of those brave men and women who protect our Country’s freedoms. To see the outcomes of all the effort through programs such as Wreaths Across America, Never Forgotten Jersey Awareness Program, and the Woods and Wilderness Dinner, which I have attended for the past two years, proves to me that we can all make a difference in supporting our veterans and first responders.
— IF Catherine Pisano, Tom C. Clark H.S.

Coming from a family of veterans and first responders, 4 the Heroes represents the gratitude that I myself have for all the selfless acts and sacrifices the men and women in uniform—be it soldiers, police officers or firemen–make on a daily basis to keep us and our country safe.
— IF Kaitlyn “Tate” Smith, Seguin H.S.

I think that the 4 The Heroes represents respect and love for those who have served our country. From my previous years of being a Texas Bomber I was always humbled and honored to wear the name of a fallen soldier on my back.
— P Logan Hulon, Dripping Springs H.S.

Gabby Rodriguez

I had the honor of wearing a jersey for a fallen soldier a few years ago. It helped me understand that the men and women in the military give up so much so that we can live a free life. While we can never repay them, this organization helps give back to them.
— OF Gabby Rodriguez, Lehman H.S.

I’m glad that there are foundations like 4 The Heroes that aid and support veterans and their families.
— P Emery Boettcher, Fredericksburg H.S.

We should be thankful to those who have made sacrifices and never forget anyone who has put their life on the line for the protection of others.
— IF Melissa Gonzalez, Judson H.S.

Presley Smith

The 4 the Heroes Foundation represents all of the men and women who serve our country, whether they are in the military, police officers or firefighters. Risking their lives to protect the country we love takes guts and I’m grateful and honored to be able to represent those who have served, are currently serving or have lost their lives in our behalf.
— P Presley Smith, Smithson Valley H.S.

It’s great that we get to represent the men and women fighting for this country and I hope this can encourage people to do more for our veterans.
— OF Alexandria Torres, Brennan H.S.

My thoughts on what this represents is that it is more than the game of softball, it goes back to our heroes who have helped this city and country.
— IF Gabriella Torres, Brennan H.S.

The 4 The Heroes represents the brave men and women who protect everyone and their country. The foundation helps those who have been wounded and makes sure no hero goes unforgotten.
— C Hannah Kollmansberger, Smithson Valley H.S.

I see this game as a way to show our respects to the fallen soldiers in our armed forces. We wouldn’t have our freedom if it wasn’t for them. This game is a way to honor them for giving the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
— C Nyah Chapa, Judson H.S.
