OnDeck Softball will hold its first event in the state of Florida next Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Boombah Sports Complex in Sanford with the Florida Jamboree, which will follow in the footsteps of Jamborees held in California, Colorado and Illinois.
OnDeck Jamborees, according to Derek and Joann Allister, founders of OnDeck Softball, give players an opportunity to have a full workout in front of college coaches.
“We are really excited about this opportunity to showcase some of the best players on the East Coast,” said Derek. “The chance to create this Jamboree and have it paired with the Alex Wilcox Classic was just a perfect window for us. We can’t thank Will Tomasello (event producer of the Classic) enough for the opportunity.”
OnDeck Softball has been working with college coaches for 19 years and offers recruiting opportunities for players across the country.
Many of softball’s college stars are OnDeck alums: in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, 453 former OnDeck players participated in Regionals, 161 in Super Regionals and 88 in the WCWS.
“We have always felt the Southeast produces some really great players,” added Joann Allister, OnDeck Softball president. “It is exciting to be expanding to a new area and getting to know more players and parents.”
OnDeck works with several top club coaches in Florida already including TJ Goelz (Tampa Mustangs), Roberto Rodriguez (Wagner’s Gold) and Greg Feldman (Florida Impact) in identifying players in the area. They also assist OnDeck in getting to know other travel ball coaches and organizations.
Players from the Southeast who have participated in OnDeck events over the years include Meghan King (Florida State), Deja Bush (Florida State), Montana Fouts (Alabama), Jameson Kavel (Duke), Victoria Figueroa (James Madison), Jaycie Michael (South Florida), Kayla Lane (Pitt) and committed Extra Elite 100 players such as Avery Goelz (Florida, 2019 high school grad), Payden Bordeau (Georgia, 2020), Brooke Blankenship (Florida State, 2021), and Mia Williams (Florida, 2023), just to name a few.
In the Spring, OnDeck’s Louie Berndt and Heather Allister have been attending tournaments and scouting players through the Southeast to select players for the Florida Jamboree. Both are based on the East Coast and have attended top club events such as the T-Bolts 5 Star Classic.
