Tulsa Elite 18U National, #53 in the Extra Elite Eighty 18U Club Rankings, scored two runs in the top of the fifth to break a 3-3 tie and give Tulsa a 5-3 victory over #22 Iowa Premier 18U-Dickel in the 18U championship game of the Top Club Spring Invite on Sunday in Oklahoma City.
Kansas-bound Angela Price, Arkansas-commit Madi Conklin, Southeast Missouri State-bound Katie Dreiling and SIU Edwardsville-commit Aerin Talley led off the top of the fifth with consecutive singles. Dreiling’s single to center field drove in Price and Conklin with the go-ahead runs.
Price went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Conklin went 2 for 3 with a run scored, Dreiling went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Talley went 1 for 2 with two runs scored.
Dreiling was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits, three runs, four walks and striking out seven in five innings.
“This team has quickly come together,” Tulsa Elite coach Rob Miller said. “The chemistry is amazing. We had to beat a great organization. They fought us run for run until the sixth when we plated two runs to make it 5-3. Katie Dreiling pitched her best game of the weekend and drove in the winning run. (SEMO committed) pitcher Emma Rote beat the same Iowa team, 3-2, on Saturday morning. Total team effort. Base-running by Angela Price, (Arkansas-commit) Ally Sockey, (SIU Edwardsville-commit) Sherri Mason and Aerin Talley separated us from the other teams. We had great pitching, awesome defense, catchers called fantastic games … total team effort.”
