You gotta love the all-out effort put into this play by two infielders for Smithson Valley High in Spring Branch, Texas!
Taken in February during the Ranger Round Robin tournament hosted by Smithson Valley High School, shortstop Lauren “Gonzo” Gonzales fearlessly lays out to make the dramatic catch in a game against Eagle Pass High. The infielder will be attending Odessa College this year.
The catch was important as the Rangers won 4-2, but you get the feeling that if Gonzo Gonzales wouldn’t have been able to pull in the out, second baseman Savannah Coonts, an incoming senior, would have pulled it in as well!
