It’s hard to find anyone in the country that works harder than Rylei Trujillo.
Her epic workouts are legendary on Twitter. Throw in her multi-talented skills on the field and it’s easy to see why the LTG 2023-Henderson/Lively RHP/power hitter is considered one of the top 2023 prospects in the nation.
Trujillo has a multitude of pitches in her arsenal.
“Being able to play alongside Rylei for these past years has been a great honor,” 2023 3B/OF Maddie Ullensvang said. “Besides her work ethic and dedication to the game and team, she overachieves in every aspect. Working in and out of practice, she has developed a broad pitching skill level of reaching top speeds, spinning the ball, and accuracy. I can always count on her inside pitch to jam anyone up no matter the batter’s skill level.”
“Rylei is fearless and is always on board to pitch any game,” Maddie explained. “Playing at a high level out of all the pitchers I’ve ever faced, Rylei is the most strategically unpredictable. With her ability to pinpoint spots, she will buckle you with the change-up, then come back with a screwball for a strikeout and you would’ve never seen it coming. Her confidence on the mound is extraordinary. She takes constant control of the game and dictates her outcome. Even in tight situations, she is able to pull through and not show her emotions on her sleeve.”
Trujillo’s outgoing personality, grit and determination have made her one of the leaders for LTG 2023.
“I have known Rylei for about four seasons and have grown to know her not only as a teammate, but as one of my best friends,” 2023 OF/1B Tatum Silva said. “Rylei is one of the toughest pitchers I have ever faced not only because of the movement, but because of her speed. Also, Rylei is an amazing power hitter. If she gets a hold of the ball, it is gone without a doubt. Rylei has always been one of the hardest workers on the team.”
Tatum says the pitcher looks to put her teammates’ needs ahead of her own.
“In addition to being a hard worker, Rylei is an incredible leader,” she adds, “and is always doing what is right for the team and willing to help anyone out. She always finds a way to brighten the mood even if everyone is down. The main thing I have noticed about Rylei is how she is able to create a strong bond with each and every girl on the team. She is always making the best effort to execute for the team by coming in clutch with a situational hit or giving the opponents a battle when at the mound. Rylei is the most genuine and true to self teammate I have ever met, and I truthfully say that, she never fails to make everyone have a better time on and off the field.”
A video of Trujillo’s power-hitting exploits on Twitter went viral and landed her a spot on MLB TV earlier this year.

“As she approaches the plate her strength and confidence continues, Rylei is a constant powerful threat at the plate,” Ullensvang said. “With home runs left and right, there is no pitch that she is unable to get ahold of. She takes advantage of any inside pitch she is mistakenly given and makes the other team pay. Being a coachable player, Rylei also takes in any information received, she realizes and adapts quickly to any umpires’ strike zone and is a smart batter all around.”
“To contribute to her smart batting, Rylei has one of the best understandings of the game on the bases. She takes opportunity’s given and steals bases, uses her speed to her advantage and always knows how to get out of any situation where she is in the disadvantage. Getting in pickles is one of Rye’s specialties, and she always manages to dictate how the situation will end in her favor. Overall, Rylei pours her whole heart into this game and always achieves her highest goals set.”
Trujillo’s versatility is another thing that makes her special.
“Rylei is an incredible athlete on the field,” 2023 MIF Nailyn Marshall said. “She is flexible with all positions and plays any position with ease. She knows how to pick you up when you are not at your best and will always be there no matter what. Something that makes her unique is her passion for the game. Ry has never turned down a challenge, waking up at 5:30 a.m. to do a workout. She puts in the most work on and off the field. She pushes herself to the highest limits to become the best she can be. Not only she is an amazing softball player, she is an amazing friend that will make you laugh all the time.”
