Lexie Delbrey has been on Extra Inning Softball’s radar for a while.
The right-hander, who is regularly clocked in the 64-68 mph range and as high as 71 mph, led East Cobb Bullets-Biele-Heath to the Triple Crown/USA Nationals 16U title in 2019 and has now moved up to East Cobb Bullets Gold-Schnute 18U team.
The farm girl from Georgia is being highly recruited by Power 5 conference schools around the nation and is a big reason why the Bullets should be a force at the PGF Nationals this summer.
“Lexie is the best pitcher I know,” East Cobb Bullets 2022 C/1B Halle Cannon said. “I started playing softball with Lexie when I was 8-years-old and she’s been my best friend ever since. Lexie has multiple skills on the field. She is able to take any situation that’s put out there and make the best out of it. She dominates on the mound and is a true team leader. Lexie has worked so hard to be at the skill level she is at today.”
“I have spent many hours in the bullpen and on the field with her and no matter what she will always have you laughing,” Cannon continued. “Lexie is one of the players who truly is in love with the game. If you ever talk to her, no matter who you are, you will always end up talking about softball. Overall, Lexie is a very skilled player on the field and brings laughter, team leadership and hard work to our school ball team and travel ball team.”
Delbrey’s demeanor is the thing that helps inspire her teammates.
“Lexie is one the best teammates I know,” South Carolina-committed 2021 C/1B/3B Olivia Cook said. “She brings something special to our team. Not only is she an amazing pitcher, but she knows how to make everyone smile. Whenever someone is down or not doing their best she always knows what to say or do to make them feel better.”
“As a catcher, I love catching Lexie!” Cook adds. “With her, you’re always moving, so I’m never bored behind the plate. She throws that nasty riseball that everyone likes to swing at, the curveball that everyone pulls off of and the change-up that no one ever expects. You never know what you’re going to get with her. That’s what makes her so special.”
Delbrey also carries leadership with her when she steps in the circle.
“Lexie is a natural leader,” 2021 3B/CF Natalie Heath said. “When she gets in the circle it feels like all the pressure of the game just goes away because we all know that she is going to dominate. She is extremely talented with her spin and is the best in the game.”
