MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball have partnered to elevate high school softball coverage with the introduction of the MaxPreps & Extra Inning Softball Golden Awards. This initiative highlights top high school athletes in three major categories: Golden Glove, Golden Arm, and Golden Bat. With the Golden Glove and Golden Arm already announced, it’s time to shift the focus to the hitters.

The Golden Bat Award will be featured every other Friday, honoring the most impactful offensive players in high school softball. Throughout the season, top hitters will be recognized, with final awards presented at the conclusion of the high school season.

How the Golden Bat Award Works

Every other Friday from March 21 – June 13, the Golden Bat Award will spotlight top offensive performers across four key categories, ensuring that power, speed, and consistency at the plate are properly recognized. These rankings, updated as of March 19, will highlight the best hitters throughout the season.

The Golden Bat Award is broken down into four subcategories:

• Most RBIs (Runs Batted In) – Players who drive in the most runs will be celebrated for their ability to produce in clutch situations and contribute to their team’s offensive efforts.
• Most Home Runs – The players who regularly clear the fences will be recognized for their power at the plate, generating excitement and scoring opportunities for their teams.
• Most Stolen Bases – Speed on the basepaths can change the course of a game, and this category will honor players who excel in stealing bases and putting pressure on opposing defenses.
• Highest Batting Average – The athlete with the highest batting average will be recognized for their consistency in getting on base, a crucial skill for creating scoring opportunities.
