Grateful at the Plate: What Our Ranked Players Are Thankful For – 2028 Katie Huckaby
As part of Extra Inning Softball’s Thanksgiving series, we asked some of the top-ranked players what they’re most thankful for this season. Today, we’re featuring Katie Huckaby, a standout in the Class of 2028, who shared a heartfelt message about what matters most to her.
In her message, Huckaby expressed gratitude for her parents, saying, “They’ve been by my side through it all, giving me more than I could ever ask for. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and support.”
I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given—the opportunities to learn, to play softball, and to grow as a person. A lot of people never get these opportunities, but I was fortunate enough to have them. If I had never started playing softball, there is no guarantee that I would have met some of my greatest friends. If I had never started playing softball, I wouldn’t have what I have today.
No journey is entirely good; there are bad times too, but the good always outweighs the bad. My parents are the only people who have been through it all with me, right by my side, and for that, I’m most grateful for them. They give me more than I could ever ask for. I am where I am today because of them, and there is nobody I love, cherish, and appreciate more than them. – Katie Huckaby
It’s clear that Huckaby deeply values the unwavering support of her parents, recognizing their dedication as the foundation of her journey and success in softball.
Currently ranked #97 in the Extra Elite 100 for the Class of 2028 Catchers, Huckaby has made a name for herself with her impressive skills on the field. As a member of Unity Pirillo , she’s shown that hard work and gratitude go hand in hand.
