High School News: Week 10 of the 2021 Extra Inning Softball National High School Rankings (May 6, 2021)

Leander (Texas) High puts its No. 1 ranking and undefeated record on the line as the Lions start playoff action today.

Don’t mess with Texas… at least this one school in the Lone Star State that has an undefeated record heading into the beginning of its playoffs today.

If this team would happen to fall, there’s a traditional power in Cali who is on its own winning streak and more than ready to retake the No. 1 spot!

1. (2) Leander, TX (29-0)
The Lions were idle last week and face Seguin, TX, in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday.

2. (3) Norco, CA (10-1)
The Cougars picked up wins over Kennedy, CA, 10-3, and Santiago, CA, 13-3, to run their winning streak to nine games.

3. (4) Marist, IL (10-0)
The Redhawks have hit 13 homers in 10 games by six different players.

4. (5) Park Vista, FL (23-0)
The Cobras kick off the FHSAA 7A District playoffs today against Boca Raton, FL.

5. (6) Villa Park, CA (11-0)
The Spartans have a big showdown today at rival Esperanza, CA.

6. (8) Mater Dei Catholic, CA (10-0)
Pace-bound Giselle Garcia tossed a five-hitter with 14 strikeouts to help the Crusaders defeat Cathedral Catholic, CA, in a big Metro Mesa League game.

7. (10) Barbers Hill, TX (28-2)
The Eagles bring a 24-game winning streak into Thursday’s Bi-District playoff game against Manvel, TX.

8. (11) Lakewood Ranch, FL (23-2)
The Mustangs open the FHSAA 7A District 12 playoffs today against Riverview, FL.

9. (12) Lake Creek, TX (31-0)
Emiley Kennedy pitched a no-hitter with 12 Ks in five innings in a 12-0 win over Cleveland, TX, and Brenna Kelly and Ava Brown combined on a five-inning no-hitter to beat Caney Creek, TX, 15-0.

10. (13) St. Francis, CA (10-0)
Jess Oakland is batting .667 with seven HRs, 18 runs scored and 25 RBIs for the undefeated Lancers.
