Mia Galella, a 1B/OF/power hitter for PA Outlaws National who is #17 in the 2025 Extra Elite 100, will be blogging about her softball adventures for Extra Inning Softball this season.
In her Extra Elite 100 we wrote that “Mia is one of the hardest working players in her class and also one of the strongest. She has an exit velocity measured at 77 mph and has on video hit 12 balls in a row over a 200-foot fence during practice.”
“Mia isn’t just a big bopper, she has been timed in home-to-first with a 3.04 second mark and is looking to go sub-3.0. From Moscow, Pennsylvania, she’s 5-foot-9 and hit .760- at TCS Nationals last August in Myrtle Beach.”
We also profiled her in an Extra Star Power article published in March titled: 2025 Power Hitter Mia Galella Has “Freakish Power” & Runs Well Too!
A member of Jason Koehler’s PA Outlaws team, she’s going to school virtually and has had some other changes forced upon her and her teammates due to COVID-19.
Here’s what she’s facing this month as we move into “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”
*****
Since I haven’t seen my team during our down time, I decided to reach out to them and see what everyone has been up to.

I asked my teammates about what they have been doing this past month with their training, school, and to make it fun, what they enjoy most about Christmas time.
Let’s start off with individual training and instruction:
Most of my teammates have been doing their strength and conditioning along with their pitching and hitting instruction. Our pitchers — Emily Krammes (#14), Kali Karwowski (#27), Mikell Kulp (#7) and Hannah Duerr (#22) — have been working hard with their pitching instructors.
Our primary catcher, Morgan Koehler (#25), is amazing for her age and is very fortunate to have a dad that played in the minor leagues as a catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. He also just so happens to be our head coach. Coach Jason is amazing. He’s a great coach, and he is so knowledgeable of the game.
Our infield and outfield — Kate Miller (#18), Emily Miller (#5), Haylie Mauger (#24), Alyssa Mayorca (#16), Sophia Bandi (#50) and Avery Errico (#23) — are an amazing group that work so hard to be the best they can be. We all have a strong bond, and it feels like we have been playing together forever.
Our team developed a chemistry which helped us go 28-4 over the fall season against some very good 16U teams. We are getting ready to begin our team winter workouts this coming weekend.
Everyone is so excited to get started! For my training, I have been doing strength and conditioning three days a week, I run a mile and do my sprints two days a week and I work on my hitting and glove work one-two times a week.

Next is school…
Due to COVID, some of my teammates are attending school in a hybrid model which is going into school two-three days and learning from home the rest of the week. My other teammates, including myself, are full-time virtual.
There are some pros and cons of both ways of learning. What my team likes about being full-time virtual is that you could go to school in your pajamas, and you don’t have to get up as early. The downside to virtual learning is that it’s nothing like in person. It’s more stressful, and we feel like sometimes we aren’t even being taught anything even though we are.
The girls that are hybrid say they like the face-to-face learning, and they like hanging out with their friends. We all hope we could be back in school full-time soon!
Since it is the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” I wanted to ask my team what their favorite thing about the Christmas season is.
We all love spending time with our family and friends. We also love baking Christmas cookies, watching holiday movies and going to look at Christmas decorations. And who doesn’t like opening presents!
Unfortunately, we could not have our team Christmas party this year due to the Covid circumstances.
Personally, my favorite thing is the rush of excitement on Christmas morning. No matter how old you are, Christmas is always a magical time!
