Carrie Green looks to surpass her junior season at Grayson where she hit .525 with 16 RBIs, 47 runs and 44 stolen bases last Fall.

Carrier Green is a talented 2024 outfielder who has shined at both the club and high school levels.

A long-time blogger for Extra Inning Softball, she was named as the No. 25-ranked player in the 2024 Extra Elite 100 and plays her prep ball for Grayson High in Logansville where she was recently named to the prestigious 2023 Gwinnett Daily Post Super Six Softball.

In today’s blog, she covers her Top Gun team’s run at PGF Nationals this week and looks forward to her senior season of high school ball (let’s just say, she doesn’t have much time to rest)… here’s what she had to say…

*****

Carrie and her Top Gun teammates at PGF.

Summer season has come to a close and while we did not end the way we wanted we had a great season.

After tying for 5th in Colorado Sparkler and 3rd at TCS Nationals in Atlanta, I just knew we were gonna make a run at PGF.  Unfortunately, we had four players back out at the last minute (literally the Monday after you could add players). This has a big impact on us as a team.

What I was extremely proud of was the fight we showed all week.  We were in every game and beat last year’s champions Thunderbolts in pool play.  We came out flat in the first bracket game and lost 3-1.  We then proceeded to win the next two against USA Athletics and SC Elite Genovese.

Carrie committed to Southern Miss last year.

We then lost to a really good LTG Henderson team and, down two pitchers, our pitching staff really stepped up to give us a chance, but we just couldn’t get that big hit.  I especially did not have a good week and I kept telling myself that it was OK.  You cannot be good/great every weekend and I just wish I could’ve done better for my teammates.

Overall, I finished the year with a .512 batting average.  My goal every year is to improve upon the last year.

Last year I finished over .400, so goal accomplished.

What I am most proud of is I did that against some of the best pitchers out there.  People ask all the time why I play for a team so far away and I tell them because it challenges me.

When I played in Georgia, I saw the same teams and pitchers a lot.  Now I see so many different pitching styles it only makes me better, they don’t know me and I don’t know them.

This year we faced over pitchers from not just Power 5 schools but going to every level and they were all good—college programs like Florida, Stanford, Kentucky, Florida State, Texas, Arizona State, San Diego State, etc.

I am so excited to see what we do next year!

As you may remember about Georgia, we play high school in the Fall.  Monday, my senior season starts.  I am excited and sad.

I found out right before we left for California that I was named one of the “Super Six” for Gwinnett County.  They did an article and a photo shoot with me. It was so awesome.  I was also really excited for the other five girls especially my high school (Grayson) teammate Nia McKnight and Top Gun teammate Kam Munson!  Both great players!
