COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Lauren Karn announced Jen Lapicki as a Maryland softball assistant coach. Lapicki joins the Maryland staff after three seasons as an associate head coach at Fordham University.
“I would like to thank Coach Lauren for this incredible opportunity,” said Lapicki. “I have been lucky enough to know Lauren for a number of years, she is not only an outstanding coach, but a fantastic individual as well. I am excited to join a program that is committed to competing for championships on the field, while creating an all around impactful student-athlete experience. I look forward to hitting the ground running. Go Terps.”
Lapicki, a native of Oldwick, New Jersey, oversaw the offense for Fordham softball. She helped the Rams to a conference tournament title and an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2022.
“Jen is coming to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience from her days as a student-athlete leading her into her coaching career as an assistant and head coach, ” said Karn. “I’m excited for her to make an immediate impact on our offensive development and mindset. The way she can connect with her student-athletes as she works to grow their skills both on and off the field is remarkable. She will be a huge asset to our program and I’m looking forward to the growth we will see offensively under her guidance.”
Before Fordham, Lapicki worked as a head coach at Holy Cross for five years. She helped lead multiple athletes to Patriot League All-Team honors. In 2019, the Crusaders earned their best single season record in nearly ten years under Lapicki. In her first season at Holy Cross, she guided the team to their first Patriot League Tournament appearance in six seasons.
Lapicki served one season as the head coach of the New Jersey Breakers, helping seven teams and four age groups with program skill development. Before the Breakers, Lapaicki was an assistant coach for the Princeton Tigers for three seasons, from 2013-2015, leading them to three consecutive second place finishes in the Ivy League South Division.
Lapicki earned her first assistant coach position at Iona in 2012. During that season, the Gaels won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles and earned a bid in the NCAA Tournament.
As a player, Lapicki played two seasons at Florida State University. She was recognized as All-Atlantic Coast Conference second team and All-Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament team during her senior year. In addition to her on-field success, Lapicki was a two-time honoree as Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference. Before her time as a Seminole, Lapicki attended Tennessee for her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team in 2008 and played in the NCAA Tournament in all four of her collegiate seasons.
She graduated from Florida State in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. She returned to school to earn a master’s degree in business administration from Iona in 2013.
