LAFAYETTE, La. — Louisiana announced the promotion of Justin Robichaux to associate head coach on Gerry Glasco’s staff via a post on social media.

Robichaux joined the Ragin’ Cajuns in the fall of 2021.

In his first two years leading and mentoring the Ragin’ Cajuns pitching staff (2022-23), Robichaux’s unit has produced nation-leading results. Louisiana ranked Top 5 nationally in total strikeouts both years highlighted by having one of only three pitching staffs in the country to record 500 strikeouts during the 2022 season, and also sported a Top 25 ranked earned run average while holding foes to a sub-.200 average both years.

Robichaux’s system produced 36 shutouts combined over the 2022 and 2023 seasons, capped off by ranking Top 10 nationally in shutouts with 20 in the 2023 season.

He has coached three All-Sun Belt performers in Sam Landry, Kandra Lamb and Meghan Schorman. Landry was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament after yielding only a single run, three hits and striking out 18 over 14 innings in the event capped off by a one-hit shutout of Marshall in the title game, and was later named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Year. Schorman earned NFCA All-Central Region honors in 2023 after a regular season that included her tossing a no-hitter of UCF and a three-hit shutout of Florida, both on the road, plus wins over Indiana and LSU.

Robichaux competed for his hometown Ragin’ Cajuns on the baseball diamond from 2007-10 developing into one of the Sun Belt’s top pitchers – with the top earned run average (fourth-lowest in the nation) by a full point as a junior in 2009 – while crafting the program’s single-season record and career record for saves.

Prior to launching his professional career, Robichaux served as a student coach for Louisiana baseball during the 2011 season. From there, he established a successful career in the private sector across a variety of industries, fostering strong relationships and leadership abilities.
