Mike White, Texas Announce Fall Schedule

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas softball head coach Mike White announced a five-game slate of games to represent the Longhorns’ fall softball schedule.

The quintet of games — all of which will be held at Red & Charline McCombs Field — begins on Saturday, Sept. 23, when Texas will play St. Mary’s University at 10 a.m.. The Longhorns will follow with a game at 12:30 p.m. against McLennan Community College (MCC). The following week, Texas will play the first of two games on Longhorn Network when the Longhorns face off against UTSA at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4. A week later, the Longhorns will face off against Texas A&M at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

The five-game slate will conclude on Friday, Oct. 27, when Texas plays a 10-inning game against Texas State at 6 p.m.

MCC and St. Mary’s will play each other, too, at 3 p.m. to wrap up a three-team round robin day on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The Longhorns are coming off a NCAA Super Regional appearance that capped a 2023 regular season that saw Texas sweep through the NCAA Austin Regional, make an appearance in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship game and win 45 games, including 30 at Red & Charline McCombs Field.

Last season, Texas split two regular-season matchups with Texas State — falling in a one-run, nine-inning affair on Sunday, March 12 in Austin and winning by four runs on Wednesday, April 12 in San Marcos — before winning both games against Texas A&M — 2-1, 11-5 — on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 to cap the NCAA Austin Regional.

The 2024 Texas Longhorns return a nucleus that features three NFCA All-Central selections, five All-Big 12 Second Team selections, five All-Big 12 Freshman honorees and one appointed to the All-Big 12 First Team. Joley Mitchell, who transferred from Notre Dame during the offseason, highlights a seven-player newcomer group that is filled with six freshman student-athletes that was ranked as the number four recruiting class in the nation.
