There are growth spurts and then there’s what happened to Maddy Stringer, a former lead-off hitter with speed and power who plays for Chris Savant’s Louisiana Bombers 2025 team.
In the last nine months, Maddy—who was in the Top 80 of the initial 2025 Extra Elite 100 (which is being updated in March 2021)—has grown six inches and added 35 pounds to transform her entire physique.
That can be good… and, well, for a young teenager not so great.

“My height plus my arms, and legs growing have allowed me to gain leverage to become a more power player, especially at the plate,” Maddy begins. “And I can now wear my Mom’s shoes!”
Her father, Brandon Stringer, adds there are the down sides.
“As a girl, she isn’t sure about the growth spurt,” he states. “Part of her wants to be smaller like the rest of the girls in her class but she likes the frame for athletics. It can be a very touchy topic at times.”
“Yea, there are the disadvantages,” the 8th grader agrees. “My clothes don’t fit and could see my foot speed slowing down and losing a bit of athleticism,” but she quickly adds, “I have used this to drive me to get quicker and stronger through strength and conditioning workouts.”
Whatever happens—and, let’s admit it: physical growth and development can only be controlled to a certain extent—Maddy has continued to elevate her play and status as one of the sport’s fastest-rising young prospects.
Now standing at 5-foot-7 and 135 pounds, she has become one of the premier power and high-average hitters in the Southwest region and in the 14U TFL league; this, after having been previously recognized as a quick gap-to-gap-type hitter and rangy middle infielder.
