It’s Mother’s Day (2019) and for all the mothers and those acting in the role of mom (step-moms, grandmothers, sisters et al) we thank you and honor you for all you do!
In the softball world, there can be an especially strong connection with the extra time, energy and travel that goes with supporting one’s “favorite athlete” which can include sharing in the joy of a momentous win or drying the tears after an especially painful loss.
So we love to take the time today to share a few of the tributes from softball players across the nation who represent through their words the love they feel on this Mother’s Day and know that millions more in our fastpitch community feel the same way too!

My mom has been there for me since the beginning. She is the person I go to for advice, the person I look up to and a shoulder to cry on. She has pushed me day in and day out to be the best woman I can be.
Not everyone can say their mom is also their coach—in this case I can. Both on and off the field, my mom has been by my side cheering me on nonstop. I cannot thank her enough for all of the long trips and money spent to get me where I am today.
Through all of the tough times, my mom has always stayed positive and has never let anything bring her down. That is one of the many things that I admire the most about her.
As I continue my journey as a young woman, I strive to be as strong and confident as my mom.

For as long as I can remember, my dad has been my coach, but my mom has always been on the sidelines cheering me on.
She’s my biggest fan and supports everything I do. I am so thankful to have her as a mom!

My mom is always there for me after games when I need to rant about a pitch that threw me off or talk to her about anything.
She also makes sure I’m always at my best when I’m competing by helping me prepare.
We like to travel together and recently went to France and Belgium for Spring Break including Disneyland Paris.
She is my best friend and mom all in one. I couldn’t be more thankful for her.

Over the past 14 years of my life, my mom has sacrificed a ton of her time, energy, money, and so much more to help my brothers and me to be successful in our athletic and everyday lives.
Since the beginning, my mom has been my softball coach and I always have and always will love the passion that she has for the game.
Whenever she gets close to a softball field (or even thinks of one!) you can see the game in her eyes and how badly she wishes she could go out there and play (too bad we can’t turn back time)!
She is always taking the time to learn new things to teach me about the beautiful game of softball and pushing me be to be the best athlete I can be.
My mom is an amazing role model and a great inspiration to me! I love my mom so much that words cannot explain!

My mom is the most important person in my life, because for me growing up she had to be both the parents in the family.
She has done everything she could to get us the things we needed and I’m thankful for all of the things she’s had to do to make us happy.
I respect her so much, because I will never know the feelings she felt and because, without her, I wouldn’t be the person I am now.
So Happy Mother’s Day, Mom, you deserve it.

My mom has been my #1 fan and catcher since the day I picked up a softball. I would not be the person or athlete I am today without her.
She drives hours just for me to get the instruction I need or will get on any plane ride to come watch me play.
My mom will still catch me every single day no matter how many bruises my drop ball may give her!
I could not be more appreciative of her support that she continues to give me every day. She is my best friend, my catcher and my #1 supporter in not just softball but in life!

With each year that I grow older, my Mom amazes me even more.
Her sacrifices that allow me to follow my dreams and her unconditional love is what has gotten me to where I am today.

Thank you for helping me shape my future in softball, making me laugh, and giving me tips on the guys (lol)! Thank you for shaping me into the young lady I am becoming.
I know being a single-parent is rough and having a spoiled teenager doesn’t make it any easier, but I want you to know you are doing an amazing job. You always find a way for me to make it to my events and get me whatever else I desire.

While Sunday, May 12th has been designated Mother’s Day, I have made it a priority to celebrate my mother and best friend every day.
I can confirm that I have become a strong, independent, caring, and confident young lady due to the core values that my mother has instilled into me.
My mother is my inspiration on and off the field and has pushed me to be the best no matter what the task, game, or moment may bring. I can only hope that I am half the woman that she has been for me over the last 18 years.
My mother has been my mentor, pitch caller, catcher, best friend, and more importantly…my parent! One who has coached me to better understand every situation inside and outside of the circle, especially this thing we call life!

My mom means the entire world to me. She has always been there for me no matter what. She is always right by my side whether it’s for softball or just life in general.
I remember being in 6U when I just started to learn how to pitch. She would do pitching lessons with me in the backyard every night even if we had practice.
Looking back, I realized how much she cared. We didn’t even start girl pitch until 8U and by the time 8U came up I was ready from all those pitching lessons she gave me.
My mom has sacrificed so many things so I can do softball and work towards my goal of playing in college. She even drove three hours at four in the morning to get me to a travel ball tournament in Tennessee!
Some people don’t even have a mom growing up and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. She deserves to have the best Mother’s Day ever.
I love you Mom!
