It’s been a successful year on and off the softball fields for Larissa Preuitt, the speedy triple threat centerfielder from Hartselle, Alabama who announced last week that she’s committed to play for the Coach Patrick Murphy and the Univ. of Alabama.
First, playing for TN Mojo last summer and fall, she hit .469 and stole 47 bases and, prior to the high school season being prematurely ended because of the COVID-19 stoppage this spring, she was batting . 600 with 24 runs scored, three triples, two doubles, 10 RBIs and a strong 1.642 OPS.
That led to the then-sophomore earning multiple honors at Hartselle (Alabama) High including 2020 AL.com All State & Huntsville Region Softball Terrific 20 as well as 1st Team All-Area.
Continuing her impressive work at the plate, Larissa batted .596 for her summer campaign with her new club team, Hotshots Premier 2022 Alabama, with 55 hits, five home runs, nine triples and 25 steals—good enough to earn her a spot on the Extra Inning Softball 2020 All-Summer Team (16U) .
One coach told us in the spring that, “Larissa started playing travel ball later than others so she didn’t commit early before the rule changes, but she’s always had numerous schools watching her play.”
That became apparent on Sept. 1, the start of the Contact Period, when her phone was constantly busy with college coaches calling, texting and messaging her including the one she was most hoping for!
