It was through this Contact Us – I Committed page that we got the great story below about Kylie LaRousa, a 2021 catcher/first baseman from Harrisburg, North Carolina who plays for Eddie Gontram’s Firecrackers NC 18U team, and how she went from doing gymnastics and taekwondo to getting a scholarship offer from a Sun Belt Conference school.
In our opinion, it was a wise move by Kylie because, not only is she an excellent hitter, but also because you also don’t too many 6-foot-1 gymnasts!

*****
I started playing softball a little later than most, I began at 10 years old when I started in rec ball.
My two brothers didn’t like baseball and my dad grew up playing the game so he was a little disappointed they didn’t play.
I enjoyed doing gymnastics and taekwondo which were individual sports and had a lot of fun, until one day I went to my dad and said, “I think I want to play softball.”
As you can imagine he was thrilled and said, “Let’s go!”
