It’s like Christmas Eve for hundreds, if not thousands, of top sophomore high school softball players across the world who can start hearing from college coaches when the midnight hour strikes tonight.
That’s right… once the clock strikes 12 and it become Sept. 1st, college coaches can begin contacting prospective softball recruits who are in the Class of 2023.
It’s an exciting time as the recruiting process will begin in earnest and we congratulate all those who have put themselves in this position to be recruited!

Tuesday night, four longtime 2023 teammates who play on the heralded Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 18U team–Katie Flannery, Hannah Dorsett, Gracie Hillman and Kenleigh Cahalan–went out to dinner in anticipation of the big day tomorrow.
They said they’re all going to be staying up late into the morning hours (note: the four sets of parents gladly went to eat elsewhere!).

Katie, an infielder, admitted she had mixed emotions.
“I’m super excited and thankful but really nervous,” she said. “It’s great to finally get to experience the recruiting process and see everything that I’ve worked for finally play out.”
Hannah, a middle infielder, agreed that with the midnight hour approaching the anxiety is increasing.
“I’m feeling excited and grateful but the nerves are kicking in. I’m just gonna trust the process and keep working hard.”

Gracie, an outfielder, echoed the sentiments.
“I know this process is going to be very exciting, but Im also nervous,” she agreed. “I’m very thankful for this opportunity.
Kenleigh, a utility player, concluded by saying there is a reward for them all at the end of the process.
“I am very excited that the moment is finally here,” she concluded. “I’m a little nervous but I know I will end up finding my future (college) home!

We’d love to hear from you athletes–let us know how your initial day went, who you heard from and how the schools contacted you (email, text, phone, drone… kidding on the last one!).
And if you officially commit on Sept. 1, that WOULD be something and you’ll definitely have to tell us!
Share your contact news starting Sept. 1 by emailing me at Brentt.Eads@ExtraInningSoftball.com.
And good luck trying to get a good night’s sleep!!!
