Signing Party: Teammates For A Decade & Lifelong Friends, Baylee Goddard & Madisyn Davis Will Soon Be Instate Rivals!

Earlier in the day, we told you about the Signing Party that was going on with teammates Madisyn Davis and Baylee Goddard as both have been best friends and teammates since they were 7-years-old.

Both have practically joined at the hip since they first began playing softball and together have won a Florida state championship at Oakleaf High in Orange Park, been honored as 1st Team Extra Inning Softball All-Americans and were recently both chosen as Extra Elite 100 players in the 2019 class.

Wednesday night saw the culmination of years of hard work and practice for both and, though they have one more year of high school and club ball together (with the Jacksonville Storm), after that the friends will be rivals as Madisyn signed with Central Florida and Baylee with the University of Florida.

It was a happy moment for the athletes, their families and friends, but starting in the fall of 2019, they’ll be in opposite dugouts for the first time in a decade and though the friendship will continue forever, that doesn’t mean each won’t try to one-up the other in pursuit of in-state bragging rights!

For now, though, it was a happy night as both will get to play the sport they love…

Says Baylee:

“Today was not only a special day for signing with the Florida Gators, but a day that I was able to sign my National Letter of Intent with my best friend! Ever since we were seven years old, we have been together! On the diamond, in the classroom, and on the weekends, we have been partners in crime (not literally).”

“Together we have built a friendship that will last forever as we go through life and through our college journey. For the first time in 10 years, we will be on separate teams and have to compete against each other which will be super fun!”

“We have played for the same club team, junior high, and high school and now we will become in-state rivals. The question is…will she throw me my favorite pitch or go for the swing and miss? For sure, I’m going to swing for the fences (laughs). I was glad to have my best friend be a part of this special day with me!”

Answered Madisyn:

“Today truly has been special, being able to sign with my best friend Baylee and spend time with our families. From teammates to now rivals, it will be exciting but odd when we have to play against each other. I will miss playing on the same team together so much, but nothing will ever truly separate us and our friendship.”

“Baylee has been my best friend for what feels like forever and I so thankful for our friendship. We have been through so much together and have become better people along the way.”

“I am so excited for Baylee, she is going to do big things for the Gators, and I know she is excited for me. We will be best friends forever regardless of what colors we wear!”
