Signing Preview: Madisyn Davis… Getting to Sign Twice!

Madisyn is excited to be playing two hours from home at UCF so her family can watch her pitch.

Madisyn Davis has unfinished business.

She came within one pitch of winning a second straight Florida high school state title and she’s looking forward to getting back on the field at Oakleaf High, but first she has a signing to do tonight and then again in February with the rest of her schoolmates.

Here’s a look at this talented 2019 pitcher who will get to compete two hours from her home….

Madisyn Davis was an Extra Inning Softball All-American and was also a 2019 Extra Elite 100 honoree.

Name: MADISYN DAVIS

1. Where will you be signing your Letter of Intent today?
Tonight I will be signing my Letter of Intent with my best friend Baylee Goddard. Our families will be together and we will sign in the evening. We also will sign in February with all high school players.

2. Will  it be a big occasion or more low-key?
Tonight it will be a big occasion, however it will be low key. I wanted this event to be about family. My parents have helped me tremendously become successful on and off the field.

3. Will you do anything else to celebrate the big day?
The biggest thing will be to send my letter to UCF as soon as I sign to demonstrate my commitment to their program. I am excited about the future and vision that Coach Ball is establishing at UCF.

4. What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process?
The excitement was taking the time with my family to visits many schools in the SEC, ACC, Sun Belt, A-Sun, and American Athletic Conference to find a university where I can be successful inside the classroom and on the field. So many programs and offerings exist which forced my family and me to take deeper looks. Overall, it was a really nice feeling to be wanted by many programs.

5. What was the “aha” moment when you knew Central Florida was the right one for you?
First and foremost, UCF is two hours away from my home which is awesome. However, when I visited, UCF showed me that they care more than about athlete’s performance. They care about their academics, community service, developing leadership skills, and how to create the best “you.” All of these things are extremely important to me and my family.

6. What will (has) signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who’ve been part of your success, i.e. family, coaches, teammates, etc.?
I am really pumped that my family and friends can come watch me compete. My mom and dad have helped me so much become a disciplined, strong, and independent young lady. Countless hours on the bucket, driving me two and half hours weekly (one way) to see my pitching coach, and spending their weekends and time to ensure that I play the best competition, they have been amazing. While I know they are proud of me, I am more proud to be their daughter. My success is OUR success at the Davis household.

7. How much gear/product do you have of your future school?
My closer is packed with UCF gear! My parents always make fun of me as every time we visit campus, we spend around $400-$500 in the bookstore (laughs); I am so glad that it’s not my money. But my sister, mom and dad love buying everything form hats, shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, cups, lanyards, and anything else they sell. What makes it easy to buy is that my high school has the same logo and colors.

8. What’s next for you and your softball plans this year, like fall/winter tournaments, high school, etc.?
I just finished Fall Ball and it was a good one. I’m going to rest for a little during November and then get geared up for high school ball. We won the 8A State Championship in 2017 and lost it last year in the 7th inning, two outs and a 3-2 count so this year we have to have greater focus. I plan to work hard to try to get us back to the State Series.

9. Did you ever think this day—signing with your dream school—would come?
This journey has been so long, but now that it’s here…time has flown by! I am ready to move forward and work hard for Coach Ball UCF. She has high expectations for me and the program and I am ready to learn and compete. But this day is a reflection of hard work, dedication, and commitment and I am thankful for the opportunity.
