EXTRA ELITE EIGHTY 16U SPOTLIGHT

The Extra Elite Eighty 16U Club Rankings were recently released and TLI will be taking a look at the teams that made the top 80 for the next few weeks.

Today the spotlight is on …

PEORIA SLUGGERS GOLD-TROTTER
Extra Elite Eighty 16U Ranking: T-61
Head Coach: NICK TROTTER

2020 Summer Record: They went 43-8 with notable wins over KC Zephyrs 2022, Sneaky Cleats, Impact Gold DFW, DFW Bombers Gold-Vasquez, Tulsa Elite, Wisconsin Bandits Gold, Sparks Premier, Louisville Lady Sluggers-Kuhn and Team North Carolina.

2020 Fall Record: They went 32-11 with quality wins over Wisconsin Bandits Gold, Wisconsin Lightning 2022, Indiana Magic Gold-Green, Aces Fastpitch Club, Indiana Bombers Gold-Poeck and Bats Academy National.

Top Finishes at Major Events: Third place at Top Gun Invitational, first place at PGF Midwest Firecracker and top 16 at the Triple Crown East Coast Nationals.

Has your team earned an invite to PGF Nationals or AFCS (note which one)? “Yes,” Trotter said, “PGF Nationals, however, due to California’s uncertainty of being open or not, we are competing in the TCS East Coast Nationals in Myrtle Beach.”

The Returners:

  • Bowling Green-commit Delaney Davis (2022, OF, a speedy slapper with a great glove and arm in the outfield)
  • Shayne Immke (2023, 2B, a quick left-handed hitter with great power, small ball ability and a great glove at 2B)
  • Nivarra Oredina (2023, C/SS, a big bit that hits for power and has the ability to beat out a bunt from the right side of the plate. She has an exceptional glove and arm and makes the toughest plays look routine)
  • Tatum Trotter (2022, 1B/P, a good bat and always seems to find a way to get the big RBI. She has great movement on her pitches and a nasty change-up)
  • Mckenzie Oslanzi (2023, 1B/P, hits with a ton of power from the left side of the plate. In the circle, she has great velocity (65 mph) and great movement on her pitches. She is cruising in game at 62-63 mph and nothing phases her in the circle)
  • Kierston McCoy (2022, 3B/P/UT, hits for power and average in the middle of our lineup and always seems to come up with the big hit. She can excel anywhere you put her. She’s a tough competitor, has hit 63 mph, great offspeed pitches and really good movement)
  • Macy Mikulich (2022, 3B/MIF, a multi-sport standout, hits in the heart of the lineup and has the ability to change a game with one swing. Has the ability to play 3B, SS and 2B at a high level)

The Newcomers:

  • Peyton Jones (2023, 2B/OF, a talented lefty slapper, has excelled batting at the top of our lineup and puts pressure on defenses with her small ball and swinging away capability. She has a great glove at 2B and the OF)
  • Allie Hayden (2022, C/OF, a great bat that always seems to find a way on base. She does a great job behind the plate keeping runners in check and blocking balls)
  • Hannah Parlier (2023, C/OF/3B/MIF, a big, athletic kid with a huge bat. Very good behind the plate framing pitches, keeping runners close and blocking the ball)
  • Katie Petran (2023, P/MIF/3B/OF, a very athletic player who also plays multiple positions and pitches. A speedy kid out of the right side of the box with good power. She has good command of her pitches in the circle with her rise ball being her strike out pitch and cruises in the low 60s with good movement and offspeed pitches)
  • Bailey Herrick (2024, UT/P/OF/3B, a very talented young player who plays multiple positions and pitches. She has a great bat and a lot of power)

What will it take for your team to be successful this season?
“We lost some kids from last year that had to move up due to age,” Trotter said. “For us to continue to have success, we need our new kids to buy in to the process. We preach a team-first mentality and ask all of our kids to be leaders. Our defense and pitching will keep us in every game. We just need those big hits, stolen bases and bunts at the right time.”
