12U CLUB SCOUTING REPORT
Extra Inning Softball will begin releasing the Extra Elite Eighty 12U Club Rankings on Monday, April 27, 2020, so we’ll start taking a look at some of the top teams in the nation. Let’s take a look at Coach Ray Gurule‘s team …
SO CAL CHOPPERS 07-GURULE
2019-20 Record: 60-20 with notable wins over Corona Angels-Perez/Knighten, OC Batbusters-Lastrapes/Sasaki, USA Athletics-Mathis/Rogers, Explosion-Flores/Wren Flores, Cal Grapettes-Kapp, Athletics-Mercado/Walling, Arizona Storm-Steverson (twice), Arizona Explosion Mabrey and lost to OC-Batbusters-Garcia, 2-1, in a tourney.
Top Finishes: 1st place at Bownet Invitational, 2nd place at Thanksgiving Challenge, 3rd place Triple Crown/Big League Dreams Christmas Toy Drive, 2nd place at Corona Angels Presidents Cup and 2nd place St. Paddys Blast.
Returners:
- Emoni Lam Sam (2026, 3B, team captain, who is batting over .500 for the season with nine HRs (five over the fence). She is also and elite 3B with a very high skill level and beastmode attitude)
- Jessica Gurule (2025, CF, possesses speed and power and plays with a competitive chip on her shoulder)
- Bela Vechionne (2025, SS, team captain, who has some of the best glovework at the position. She dominates her range of play and swings the bat really well)
- Tori Elizalde (2025, C, has a 1.7 pop time and has thrown many would be base stealers out all season)
Newcomers (from within the Choppers organization):
- Quira “Q” Castillo (2025, P/3B, another big hitter who drives in lots of runs with all her gap shots. She is a tough pitcher to hit as she frustrates teams with her change-up and curveball)
- Michaela Meza (2025, SS/OF, has elite speed and really good power to all fields. She has great range at SS and covers lots of ground in the outfield)
- Bela Salas (2025, 2B/OF, provides plenty of speed and power and excels at keeping defenses on their toes with her small-ball game, but can also hit for power)
- Angelina Ratzlaff (2025, 2B/OF, another speed and power player. She can bunt to get on or hit one in the gap for power. Defensively, she excels at 2B, SS and any outfield position)
What will it take for your team to be successful?
Keep our competitive consistency, stay hungry and continue to play with great confidence. Our really deep pitching and clutch hitting will help lead the way.
