Tell us about your high school team and what we should expect from your team this season?
I love my team and the bond that we have. We all love to have fun during practice and games, while still putting in the work. A lot of us hang out off the field as well. My teammates are what make softball so fun. We have high expectations for ourselves for this upcoming season, as we went undefeated last year. I know we are all looking forward to playing and the goal is to take this season game-by-game and to continue to better ourselves.
What have you learned about yourself in the past year?
Last year, people told me senior year would go by fast and to really soak up and enjoy every moment. I feel that so far this year I have developed a deeper appreciation for the people and things that make me happy.
What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today?
At the start of my recruiting process in middle school, I was in contact with and visited a handful of colleges. I had to miss a decent amount of school and time spent with friends. However, being recruited at such a young age forced me to mature quicker. I learned to manage and balance my time between school and my social life. I spoke to adults and coaches frequently, which boosted my communicative skills and confidence. Now, as a senior in high school, my friends have started the process of looking into colleges, similar to what I was doing in middle school. “Do I want to stay in state or go out of state? If so, how far? Can I see myself going here? City or college town? Big or small campus? Can I handle this weather?” I’m thankful for being able to have gone through this at a young age, as the skills I learned from it still stick with me today.
