IOWA OUTLAWS JOIN NEBRASKA GOLD
Iowa Outlaws Gold-Cunningham 14U has merged with the Nebraska Gold organization, club director Larry Swift announced on Thursday.
The new team will be called Nebraska Gold 515-Cunningham and will compete in national 14U events, including USSSA, USAES, PGF and USA Softball.
“This coaching staff and team has been very successful as one of the best teams in the Midwest,” Swift said in a statement. “We are extremely excited about our expansion into Iowa. These coaches have the passion and drive to help young athletes continue to get better and strive to make their dreams a reality. This fits perfectly with the culture Nebraska Gold looks for.”
Mike Cunningham’s squad went 69-17 this past summer and fall. The Iowa Outlaws Gold team has had an impressive run the past four years, claiming several USSSA Qualifier titles in addition to earning USAES WFC bids in three consecutive seasons and winning a total of 16 tournaments while competing in showcases and invites throughout the Midwest.
“We joined Nebraska Gold to expand their organization into Iowa,” Cunningham stated. “The goal is to give young ladies in Iowa another option for those that want to raise the bar for competition during the summer months and give each young lady the opportunity to play softball at the next level.”
Here are some of the top players for the newly-formed Nebraska Gold 515-Cunningham team:
- Dakota Lake: The right-hander, who is starting to get attention from colleges, has great velocity, spin, plus a variety of moving pitches that makes her a great strikeout pitcher. Lake was instrumental during the team’s run at the USAES WFC Qualifier this fall.
- Lauren Black: The 2024 C/IF has led the team in batting average, home runs, slugging percentage and RBIs over the past four years. Black batted .605 with a team-high eight homers in the fall. She is a game-changer, unselfish and an RBI machine.
- Kendra Lewis: The 2023 UT led the team in on-base percentage, batted .560 and had a .980 fielding percentage this past fall. She is a good outfielder and a solid sortstop. She has a very high softball IQ, works extremely hard and is improving her slapping game.
- Hailey Rosonke: The 2024 P/IF is a strong athlete who pitches with velocity and spin. She hits for power and anchors the middle of the lineup. She shows great quickness and instincts at third base.
