Another busy week of transfer news in the South highlighted by the fallout at Mississippi State as two more former players announce their new destinations.

One of those is Kinsey Goelz, who will play alongside her talented sister, Avery Goelz, who is a 2020 grad and was last week announced as an Extra Inning Softball 1st Team All-American (Infielder) after previously being listed as one of the Top 10 prospects in the 2020 Extra Elite 100.

For a fun read, check out our story from earlier this year: Lakewood Ranch (Florida) High… It’s A Goelz Family (& Club) Affair.

Kinsey is one of a half dozen players known to be out the door at MSU which yesterday announced the firing of head coach Van Stuedmann.

We have news of where another is headed and a huge haul for an ACC team ready to ramp up its program… below are several official releases by the universities where the new transfers are headed.

Florida Gators Welcome Kinsey Goelz

Head Coach Tim Walton and the Gators welcomed transfer Kinsey Goelz to the program Tuesday afternoon. The Lakewood Ranch High School standout finished the 2019 season as a redshirt freshman at Mississippi State and will be eligible to compete in 2021.

Kinsey Goelz will have to sit out a year due to SEC conference rules, but says one coach: “Shes a program enhancer just by her work ethic, demeanor and endearing teammate qualities.”

“We’re excited to have Kinsey join our program this fall.” Walton said. “She’s a talented player that already has SEC experience and we’re looking forward to helping her progress both on and off the field as a Gator.”

With the Bulldogs, Goelz appeared in 24 games and picked up 19 starts at shortstop. She made her collegiate debut against Valparaiso Feb. 9, 2019 and earned her first start against No. 5 Washington Feb. 14.

In 2018, Goelz received a medical redshirt after she suffered an injury during the fall before her freshman season.

Academically, the Myakka City, Fla., native placed on the 2018 First-Year SEC Honor Roll and the 2019 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

James Madison Dukes Add Transfer Kayla Boseman for 2020 Season

Sophomore pitcher/utility player Kayla Boseman has joined the James Madison softball program for the 2020 season, as announced by head coach Loren LaPorte on Tuesday morning.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Kayla to the JMU family!” LaPorte said. “She is a great fit on our team and will bring experience, versatility and poise to our pitching staff.”

Boseman comes from Mississippi State where she played her freshman season in Starkville. During her rookie campaign, Boseman made 10 appearances in the circle including seven starts. She hurled 32 2/3 innings and racked up 31 strikeouts while garnering three hits in seven at-bats, including two doubles and a home run.

Majoring in kinesiology, Boseman was named to the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll after maintaining a 3.00 cumulative grade point average or higher in 2018-2019.
