USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced on Friday that it will be conducting an open tryout June 15-16, 2020 for players hoping to make the 2020 USA Softball U-18 Women’s National Team (WNT) roster.
Eligible athletes have from now through April 17, 2020—the application deadline— to sign up for the open tryout, which will be held at USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City and involve a series of softball related skill drills for each position, hitting and bunting as well as scrimmages.
Athletes who participate in the open tryout will be considered for selection on the 2020 USA Softball U18 WNT and those will compete at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Women’s World Championship in Lima, Peru August 23-28, 2020.
The open tryout is open to any female U.S. citizen born in 2002 or later. Any female United States citizen born in 2002, 2003, or 2004 who can commit to the necessary training time in the July, and August period is eligible.
There is a $200, non-refundable registration fee that includes a participant t-shirt, visor and skill drills and scrimmages. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and expenses to the tryouts.
