Win or lose, today’s action at the Top Club Invitational would be the last time 2021 Extra Elite 100 infielder Maddy Schmeiser with the PA Strikers would ever play club ball.

The Strikers fell in the quarterfinals today 11-4 to a strong Lady Dukes – Lamar team so no shame there. And the talented athlete can always say that on her final day of playing travel ball she went 3-for-6 and led off a game with a home run (in a 5-1 win over New Lenox Lightning).
The PGF All-Region player knew that June would be a wild month as she explained on Saturday:
“In a span of 20 days I will have gone from high school graduation to club softball to becoming a college student!”
Back in the Fall, we wrote the following about Maddy in her rankings’ bio including the point that she would leave early to go to North Carolina State to begin summer school :
T-44—Madeleine Schmeiser, 3B/MIF, PA Strikers (North Carolina State)
Maddy consistently put up great offensive numbers when playing for the Ohio Outlaws and her father, Tom Schmeiser, over the last five years. She peaked this summer at the JO Cup when she batted .409 with a .519 on-base percentage and a team-best 1.200 OPS. Defensively, Maddy shined as well with a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 on 29 chances and 16 assists and was an integral part in the Outlaws finishing 5th this summer in Nationals. All-State as a freshman and a two-time All-Ohio Underclass pick, she’s played this fall with the PA Strikers and next summer will enter NC State in June so she will miss the 2021 summer club season.
She and her father and coach, Tom Schmeiser, knew this day would come and in the video clip shot Saturday, dad and daughter share their thoughts on this bittersweet occasion:
