ROSEMONT, Illinois – After waiting until the final inning to secure a victory on Friday night, Team Romero made sure they took a quick lead and never looked back as the squad erupted for a league season-high 10 runs en route to a 10-3 victory over Team Faraimo in Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season action at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
The win allowed Team Romero to improve to 2-0 in Week Two, while Team Faraimo saw its record drop to 1-1.
Pitcher Aleshia Ocasio garnered MVP 1 recognition after scattering five hits in 5.0 innings with two strikeouts. Ocasio, who stands 1-1 in the circle this season, tallied a season-high 230 leaderboard points.
Catcher Mia Davidson followed with a MVP 2 nod after going 2-for-4 with a single, a home run and a walk. Davidson, who also drove in two runs, secured 208 leaderboard points for the first 200-point game of her Championship Season career.
Outfielder Bubba Nickles rounded out the MVP trifecta for Team Romero after hitting a home run while scoring a pair of runs. The former UCLA standout finished with 178 leaderboard points.
Team Faraimo was led by a three-hit effort from Erika Piancastelli, who also drove in all three runs with a double in the sixth inning and a single in the final frame.
How It Happened: Team Romero surged to an 8-0 lead in the first five innings, including a pair of three-run frames. Davidson drove in two of the runs during the outburst with a single in the bottom of the first inning before adding her second home run of the season with a solo shot to start the third inning. Team Faraimo ended the shutout bid with an RBI double by Erika Piancastelli in the sixth frame.
Leaderboard Impact: Davidson’s career-high output lifted her six spots on the leaderboard and into second place with 642 points, while middle infielder Sierra Romero retains the overall lead with 676 leaderboard points. Ocasio, meanwhile, elevated her spot in the league standings by 22 positions and now holds ninth place with 516 points.
Game Notes:
- Team Faraimo and Team Romero combined to score 13 runs during Saturday’s first game, elevating the league’s season total to 59 runs through nine games … Aspiration is committed to planting 10 trees for every run scored as part of its ‘Round the Bases’ initiative.
- Team Romero challenged an out call on a play at home plate in the bottom of the fifth inning, which was unsuccessful.

ROSEMONT, Illinois – After dropping a heartbreaking defeat to begin its Week Two slate, Team Zerkle wanted to do everything possible to keep history from repeating itself.
And the squad did just that by erupting for 13 runs on 17 hits to surge past Team Garcia by a 13-4 count in the nightcap of Saturday’s Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season doubleheader at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Team Zerkle has split its first two games to begin the weekend, while Team Garcia dropped to 0-2.
Rookie outfielder Caroline Jacobsen claimed her first career Game MVP honor after taking home MVP 1 honors. The former Duke and Clemson standout went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run while scoring two runs en route to accumulating 210 leaderboard points.
Catcher Gwen Svekis followed with MVP 2 recognition after scoring a pair of runs in addition to hitting her first home run of the campaign, giving her 178 leaderboard points in the victory.
Rookie middle infielder Rachel Becker drove in four runs while collecting a pair of hits to secure her first career Game MVP commendation with an MVP 3 selection and 140 leaderboard points.
Middle infielder Kelsey Harshman led Team Garcia in the loss by going 3-for-3 with a home run and two singles to go with two runs scored, while catcher Dejah Mulipola was 2-for-4 with a single and a double.
How It Happened:Â After giving up two runs in the first inning, Team Zerkle responded by scoring 12 consecutive runs over the next four frames to take a commanding 12-2 advantage. The squad scored three runs in the second inning before adding two more markers in the third stanza with a six-run fourth frame.
Leaderboard Impact: Outfielder Morgan Zerkle remains in ninth place on the leaderboard with 534 points, while pitcher Alyssa Denham and outfielder Amanda Lorenz rose two spots to 12th and 13th places, respectively. Jacobsen, meanwhile, jumped 22 positions in the league standings to 15th place with 472 leaderboard points.

- Team Zerkle and Team Garcia combined to score 17 runs in Saturday’s second game, raising the league’s season run total to 76 through 10 games … Aspiration is committed to planting 10 trees for every run scored this season as part of its ‘Round the Bases’ initiative.

- Mulipola now owns 10 career multi-hit games in Championship Season play after her first two-hit outing of the season.
- Rookie middle infielder Josie Muffley went 3-for-4 in the win for Team Zerkle, marking her first career multi-hit performance as a professional.
- Rookie catcher Gianna Boccagno made her professional debut as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
- Lorenz remains the only player in the league to hit safely in all five games this season after a 3-for-5 performance in the win for Team Zerkle.

ROSEMONT, Illinois – Rookie Megan Faraimo can now say she is linked to Cat Osterman in Athletes Unlimited history after hurling the second no-hitter in the league’s four-year history.
The newcomer from UCLA allowed just two base runners and retired the final 10 hitters she faced to secure Team Faraimo’s 1-0 verdict over Team Zerkle in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Faraimo, who threw eight no-hitters during her college career at UCLA, joins Osterman as the only players in league history with a no-hitter. Osterman, the 2020 Athletes Unlimited Softball champion, spun her gem on August 29, 2021, in a 6-1 victory over Team Hayward.
Faraimo, who registered a perfect 264 leaderboard points, claimed MVP 1 distinction to lead the sweep for Team Faraimo. Catcher Jordan Roberts followed with MVP 2 honors and 160 points while designated player Tori Vidales followed with MVP 3 distinction after scoring the game’s only run to secure 160 points of her own.
Pitcher Georgina Corrick (0-3) suffered the loss after allowing the lone run in 5.2 innings with six strikeouts.
How It Happened: Team Faraimo broke the scoreless stalemate in the fifth inning with three consecutive hits. After corner infielder Tori Vidales singled, she advanced to second base on a single by middle infielder Hannah Flippen before coming around to score on Piancastelli’s single to left field.
Leaderboard Impact: Faraimo’s record-setting performance elevated her into the top spot of the leaderboard with a 174-point advantage over middle infielder Sierra Romero, who plays in the nightcap against Team Garcia. Corner infielder Sam Fischer saw her position in the league standings rise by 10 spots into fourth place with 596 points.
Game Notes:
- Team Faraimo and Team Zerkle combined to score one run in Sunday’s first game, upping the league’s season total to 77 runs through 11 games … Aspiration is committed to planting 10 trees for every run scored during the season as part of its ‘Aspiration Round the Bases’ initiative.

ROSEMONT, Illinois – In her first two games as an Athletes Unlimited Softball captain, middle infielder Sierra Romero made all of the right calls and guided her squad to a pair of victories.
Team Romero followed the same script on Sunday in its Week Two finale against Team Garcia and the plan worked with the squad earning a 5-2 victory at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
The win allowed Team Romero to close the week with a perfect 3-0 record, while Team Garcia lost for the third time in as many days.
Pitcher Odicci Alexander earned MVP 1 honors after allowing one earned run on five hits over 5.0 innings of relief. Alexander, who also registered five strikeouts while earning her first win in the circle this season, closed the weekend with 220 leaderboard points.
Corner infielder Sydney Romero secured the game’s MVP 2 commendation after going 1-for-1 with a home run. She also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch twice, giving her a game-high 224 leaderboard points.
Catcher Mia Davidson completed the MVP trio for the winning side after blasting her third home run of the season, a solo shot to center field in the fifth inning. Davidson, who also scored a pair of runs, fashioned 186 leaderboard points as a result of her 1-for-2 performance that included being hit by a pitch twice.
Catcher Taylor Edwards notched a two-hit effort in the loss for Team Garcia, while four other players recorded a hit. Team captain Rachel Garcia (1-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs on four hits with seven strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
How It Happened:Â Team Romero sent eight hitters to the plate in the opening inning and used a grand slam by Sydney Romero to take a 4-0 lead. Team Garcia trimmed the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the second frame before Team Romero tacked on an insurance run with a Davidson home run in the fifth inning.
Leaderboard Impact: The three-game sweep allowed Davidson, Sierra Romero and Alexander to join pitcher Megan Faraimo as captains for Week Three. Davidson lifted her league standing by eight places with her outstanding Sunday performance while Alexander moved ahead three spots.

GREENVILLE, North Carolina – Team Davidson will be the answer to the trivia question of which team won the first-ever contest at the AU Pro Games at the Little League Softball World Series after coming from behind to secure a 4-3 victory over Team Romero at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Playing in the first-ever Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season contest to be held outside of Parkway Bank Sports Complex, the Orange-clad Team Davidson earned the win after blasting three home runs in its final two trips to the plate.
Designated player Nadia Taylor earned MVP 1 honors after hitting the go-ahead home run with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Taylor, who was 2-for-3 in the victory, finished the night with a game-high 200 leaderboard points.
Outfielder Erika Piancastelli followed with the game’s MVP 2 selection after her home run in the sixth inning evened the score at 3-all. Piancastelli collected 170 leaderboard points after reaching base twice.
Pitcher Mariah Mazon, who earned the win in the circle, was named MVP 3 after improving to 3-0 this season. Mazon scattered two hits over 2.2 innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
Outfielders Morgan Zerkle and Amanda Lorenz accounted for four of Team Romero’s nine hits in the loss with a pair of 2-for-3 efforts. Pitcher Aleshia Ocasio dipped to 1-2 after allowing three home runs over 1.1 innings.
How It Happened:Â Team Davidson used three home runs in a two-inning span to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

GREENVILLE, North Carolina – Outfielder Aliyah Andrews drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the ninth inning as Team Alexander snuck past Team Faraimo, 4-3, to complete the first-ever AU Pro Games at the Little League Softball World Series at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The win capped a twinbill that saw both games end with identical 4-3 counts.
Andrews, who was 3-for-5 in the victory, earned MVP 1 honors after her game-winning performance and closed the night with 200 leaderboard points. She also added a single in the third inning and double in the seventh frame.
Corner infielder Danielle Gibson was the game’s MVP 2 selection following a 3-for-4 performance, including a two-run home run in the first inning and a pair of singles, to secure a game-high 210 leaderboard points.
Rookie pitcher Kathryn Sandercock earned her first win as a professional with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief. The former Florida State standout collected five strikeouts and did not allow a hit en route to accumulating 142 leaderboard points and the MVP 3 commendation.
Catcher Dejah Mulipola paced the Team Faraimo offense with a two-run home run in the first inning. Pitcher Georgina Corrick (0-4) took the loss in relief after allowing one unearned run on three hits with seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
How It Happened: With two outs in the ninth inning, Andrews hit a fly ball into shallow center field that dropped in front of outfielder Haylie McCleney, bringing pitcher Odicci Alexander home from second base for the game-winning run.
Leaderboard Impact: The extra-inning victory allowed Alexander to take over first place on the leaderboard with 944 points and enters Saturday’s action with an 18-point edge over catcher Mia Davidson. Gibson, meanwhile, surged 20 places in the league standings and has 652 leaderboard points.
Game Notes:
- Team Faraimo and Team Alexander combined to score seven runs during Wednesday’s second game, upping the league’s season total to 98 runs through 14 games … Aspiration is committed to planting 10 trees for every run scored this season as part of the ‘Aspiration Round the Bases’ initiative.
- Team Faraimo and Team Alexander played the fifth extra-inning game in Championship Season history … It was the first extra-inning contest since Team Chidester downed Team Jaquish, 10-8, in nine innings on September 26, 2021.
- The nine-inning game between Team Faraimo and Team Alexander equaled the Championship Season record for the longest game, equaling the nine-inning affair between Team Chidester and Team Jaquish on September 26, 2021.
- Team Alexander’s first five hitters in the lineup accounted for all nine of the team’s hits and drove in all four runs in the victory.
- Team Faraimo’s pitching staff combined to throw 14 strikeouts with Faraimo and Corrick each registering seven strikeouts … Team Alexander’s pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts in the victory.
- Team Faraimo challenged a hit by pitch drawn by Alexander with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, which was unsuccessful.
- A trio of upcoming Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season games have been moved to ESPN2 broadcasts, including the first game of the doubleheader on Sunday, August 13, between Team Alexander and Team Romero at 4:30 p.m. ET.
