Breaking News: East Cobb Bullets Organization Announces First Team in Texas: EC Bullets – Summers (16U)

The EC Bullets-Summers 16U team, formerly know as Apex, is the first Bullets team in Texas.

The East Cobb Bullets Fastpitch organization (“EC Bullets”) has announced the formation of its first team in Texas, the EC Bullets – Summers 16U team that will be based out of Fort Worth.

The newest EC Bullets team has already attracted players from in and out of the Lone Star State and is led by a 33-year veteran of the game, Christine Summers, who will be the head coach and brings her Division 1, NAIA, JUCO, and club softball experience to the organization. The new team can be following on Twitter by clicking HERE.

“That this is our first Texas team is in itself special, but with her extensive background both as a fastpitch player and coach, it makes her contribution to our sport even better,” said EC Bullets founder Greg Schnute.

Members of Coach Summer’s family include (l-r): daughter Claire, Christine, niece Taylor Dimanoff, daughter Caitlyn and husband Cody.

Coach Summers is excited about the new venture adding that she will focus on fundamentals, teaching her athletes to be aggressive and think ahead as well as place an emphasis on the mental game.

“The EC Bullets’ great reputation, leadership, and pedigree will give our team/players an even stronger platform for success to what we already have in place, especially through the recruiting process, during this critical time of their careers.”

Coach Summers, a former Division 1 collegiate pitcher and shortstop, adds:

“We also want to teach the girls to do the things they can control: hustle, effort, and attitude.”

The newly-formed and announced Bullets – Summers 16U team is made up mainly of players in the class of 2023, with a few 2022’s. Coach Summers reports most of her players are already receiving D1 attention from coaches around the country.

As a multi-sport player herself—she had tennis as well as softball scholarship offers to play in college—the coach is well versed in the recruiting process and has experience in helping players find their best fit academically and athletically.

She took that experience and in 2011 launched the Take Charge College Recruiting Service which has helped players receive over $10.6 million dollars in athletic scholarships.

Coach Summers is a breast cancer survivor and a mother of three— twin daughters Caitlyn and Claire and son Case. Her husband Cody Summers is also a coach and a former Division 1 baseball player.

“We look forward to watching Christine’s group compete and grow while at the same time begin a new segment within the EC Bullets program in our 25th year!” added Schnute.  “Welcome aboard, Christine!”
