Breaking News: Schedule Announced for the Extra Inning Softball 2022 High School All-Americans, National Player & National Coach of the Year!

It’s time to honor those talented and hard-working high school softball players who had stand-out seasons by releasing our Extra Inning Softball 2022 High School All-Americans Team!

Our list is the deepest and most researched you will find as we feel it necessary to honor all those who deserve to be recognized as an Extra Inning Softball High School All-American as well as National Player & Coach of the Year.

We’ll begin recognizing the accomplishments of players who excelled at the high school level with the following schedule:

1st TEAM EXTRA INNING SOFTBALL HIGH SCHOOL 2021 ALL-AMERICANS—MULTI-PURPOSE
Jordyn Bahl

P/UT Sr. Jordyn Bahl, Papillion-La Vista (Papilion) NE
Considered by most as the top player in the senior class, Jordyn is ranked #1 in the 2021 Extra Elite 100, was the MaxPreps Co-Player of the Year, earned NFCA 1st Team All-American honors and was also selected as the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year. The right-handed pitcher went 27-0 with a 0.10 ERA last Fall as she led her Nebraska team to a second straight Class A state title. The Oklahoma signee struck out 316 hitters in 137 innings and was an equal force with the bat as she hit .510 with 20 home runs and drove in 55 RBIs. Adding to the athletic success is a 4.37 weighted GPA and extensive work with off-the-field programs such as the Open Door Mission food bank, Salvation Army and more.

SS/C Sr. Aubrey Barnhart, Goodpasture Christian (Madison) TN
Aubrey is a game-changing talent who was ranked #3 in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 and has signed with Alabama. Even though she was primarily as a shortstop in high school, in the travel ball world she is a talented catcher and third baseman as well. This year she batted .558 with 43 hits in 77 at-bats and had an eye-opening .729 on-base percentage due in great part to 32 walks, most of them intentional because of the great respect of opposing teams. Aubrey hit five home runs with 33 RBIs and scored 48 runs herself. She also only struck out three times while swiping 18 bases. Defensively, the future SEC player had 106 chances and compiled a .934 fielding percentage.

P/UT So. Kadie Becker, South Caldwell (Granite Falls) NC
Kadi did not get a freshman season due to COVID, but had to step up on a reigning North Carolina 4A State Championship team and as the #1 pitcher was also in the top 2 or 3 in every offensive category on her team. The 5-foot-10 pitcher went 11-2, compiled a 1.42 ERA and had 88 K’s in 74 innings and was honored as the Northwest 3A/4A Pitcher of the Year. Also a volleyball standout, she was an offensive force on the field as well as she batted .488 with nine home runs, 25 RBIs and only struck out three times all year. Her team went 10-0 to win the conference and made it to the third round of the state playoffs. Kadie is also ranked in the Top 85 players in the 2023 Extra Elite 100.

C/P Jr. Maci Bergeron, Notre Dame (Crowley) LA
Maci repeated as the Gatorade State Player of the Year in Louisiana as she batted .572 with 30 home runs to set a Louisiana state record and also had 73 RBIs and scored 50 runs. She led her team to a Div. III state championship and also was called to pitch which she did successfully as she went 6-0 with a 0.39 ERA and had 47 K’s in 36 innings. The LSU commit is also ranked as the #3 player in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.  In June Maci was announced as one of 16 players selected compete for the U-18 Junior Women’s National Team.

Eden Bigham

P/UT Jr. Sydney Berzon, Baylor (Chattanooga) TN
Sydney has been a key cog in the Baylor High machine that has won six straight state championships in the Div. II Class AA division. She also repeats as a 1st Team Extra Inning Softball High School All-American which she received in 2019 when she went 20-2 with a 0.75 ERA and struck out 213 batters in 112 innings. This season, Sydney went a perfect 17-0 and will have a chance for a third state title in 2022. The LSU commit is also ranked #11 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

P/UT JR. Eden Bigham, Rustburg VA
Eden went 17-0 with 256 K’s in 107 innings and limited opponents to just a 0.45 batting average as she helped Rustburg win the 3A Virginia State Championship. She also was a force with the bat as she hit .353 and had a team-leading five home runs. The Seminole District Player of the Year on the field, in the classroom she is on pace to have 60 college credits by the time she finishes high school and will have her two-year Associates degree. Eden was also selected as the Extra Inning Softball National High School Player of the Week for June 15, 2021 when she went 2-0 with 19 K’s in eight innings pitched and compiled a 0.00 ERA while batting .500 and hitting a home run.

P/1B So. Ava Brown, Lake Creek (Montgomery) TX
Ava was selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association 1st team All-State team after going 16-0 with a 0.92 ERA and pitching five no-hitters and two perfect games. She had 167 strikeouts in 84 innings pitched and gave us only six walks as opposing batters hit just .093 against her. In the first round playoff win, she struck out 20 of the 21 hitters faced in the game. Equally a threat with the stick, Ava hit .591 with a .609 on-base percentage and smashed 17 home runs, 22 doubles and 65 RBIs. Showing her two-way talents, she was the 2021 District Pitcher of the Year and the All Greater Houston Hitter of the Year. Ava is also ranked #3 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100.

P/IF Jr. Nija Canady, Topeka KS
Nija earned MaxPreps All-American honors, was the Gatorade State Player of the Year and also was the Kansas 6A Player of the Year after she led the Trojans to an undefeated 25-0 mark and the state championship this year. In the circle, she went 21-0 with a 0.26 ERA and struck out 232 hitters in 109.1 innings. Nija really upped her game in the playoffs as she allowed just two earned runs in four post season wins including the title game in which she struck out 16 and gave up just one hit. Offensively, the junior hit .515 with 16 home runs and 59 RBIs. Nija also carries a 4.46 GPA in school and is ranked #21 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

Kylie Chung

P/UT Sr. Kylie Chung, Westlake (Westlake Village) CA
Kylie has played every position except for catcher in her prep career but her primary position is a pitcher—she played shortstop as a freshman too. In the circle, the Stanford signee went 18-3 and since her sophomore more she’s an impressive 33-4. Kylie is one of the Division 2 leaders in almost every pitching category: ERA of 0.88 (8th), strikeouts with 212 (1st) and record (1st). At the plate, she is one of the Division 2 leaders in almost every category including batting average of .471 (12th), homers with 9 (2nd), slugging percentage of .943 (12th), RBIs at 27 (12th), OBP of .602 (11th). Defensively, Kylie’s field percentage was 1.000 on 47 chances. She is a Top 75-ranked player in her class and recapped her recruiting journey to Stanford in this blog for Extra Inning Softball.

P/IF Jr. RyLee Crandall, Artesia NM
RyLee was the New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year as she batted .505 with 10 home runs and compiled a .958 fielding percentage while racking up 13 wins, a 0.15 ERA and 195 K’s in 91.2 innings pitched. She has a 4.24 GPA and is ranked in the Top 50 of the 2022 Extra Elite 100. Also, check out this article where RyLee blogged about the first day college coaches could call her.

P/OF Fr. Addisen Fisher, Bend OR
Addisen is a two-way standout from the Northwest who is equally dangerous with her pitching arm or her bat. She led her Lava Bears team to a 18-1 record and on the mound went 9-0 with a 0.25 ERA, 127 K’s in 56.1 innings and didn’t allow a walk all season which was helpful in her two perfect games. She also threw three no-hitters. The talented freshman, ranked #21 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, was a force at the plate too as she batted .574 with six home runs, 35 runs scored and 26 RBIs. When not playing, she also works as a youth softball coach.

Kirsten Fleet

P/UT So. Kirsten Fleet, Auburn (Riner) VA
Kirsten was the Virginia High School Coaches Association Class 1 Player of the Year after leading her team to a Class 1 State championships. The Georgia commit had a shortened season of 18 games due to COVID but she did a lot in that time: 260 K’s in 119 innings—2.18 strikeouts per inning—with only five earned runs allowed and also recorded five no-hitters. Kirsten was named the Region and District player of the Year as well and set her school’s single seasons strikeout record even though she had almost half as many games as the prior pitchers. At the plate Kirsten batted .516 and had five home runs. The junior is ranked in the Top 10 in her class in the Extra Elite 100.

P/UT Jr. Sophie Garner-MacKinnon, Hall (West Hartford) CT
Sophie, ranked in the Top 10 of the 2022 Extra Elite 100 player rankings, earned All-State honors and repeated as an All-Conference pick as she batted .481 with 15 RBIs and went 16-5 with a 0.24 ERA as she struck out 341 in 145.1 innings. The Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year has a 4.07 GPA and is considered one of the top prospects in her class on the East Coast with many top academic and athletic colleges looking at her.

P/IF Jr. Wynne Gore, Charlotte Christian (Charlotte) NC
Charlotte went 17-2 in the circle which was third best in the state and had 167 K’s in 108 innings with a 1.78 ERA. With the bat she led her conference with a .618 batting average and her 38 RBIs was second in the state while she led North Carolina with 13 doubles. Her accolades including 1st Team All-State and All-Conference and Conference Player of the Year. Wynne was a National Player of the Week Runner-up for May 20, 2021 when the North Carolina State commit pitched 33 innings and compiled 42 K’s with a 2.33 ERA and also was strong at the plate, producing a .526 batting average, a .550 OBP and had a home run, two doubles and eight RBIs.

Jayden Heavener

P/UT Sr. Emmy Guthrie, Lone Grove OK
Emmy led her Longhorns to the Class 4A state title as she went 28-2 in the circle with a 0.69 ERA and had 310 K’s in 163 innings versus only 24 walks. She was honored as a MaxPreps All-American and was the Gatorade State Player of the Year as she shined also on offense with a .484 batting average and 29 RBIs. Emmy also was an All-State honoree and the District Player of the Year. The Oklahoma signee is also honored as a Top 25-ranked player in the 2021 Extra Elite 100.

MP Fr. Jayden Heavener, Pace FL
Jayden is one of the most promising young players in the game today and as a freshman she went 11-3 with 252 K’s in 105 innings pitched. She had a 1.42 ERA and only gave up 29 hits all season with 26 of those being infield singles. Jayden also was stingy in giving up extra base hits—just one double and no triples or home runs all season long. Offensively, she batted .305 with a .404 on-base percentage and 23 RBIs. Jayden was the Florida 5A Pitcher of the Year and received 5A All-State honors while leading Pace High to its first Regional win since 2007 and also to the State Final Four. Jayden is ranked #11 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100 as well.

UT/MIF Jr. Remmington Hewitt, East Nicolaus (Trowbridge) CA
Remmington batted .551 this year with a 1.103 slugging percentage and had nine home runs—one of them a grand slam—with 16 doubles, 42 RBIs and a 1.103 slugging percentage. In the circle she went 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA and had 19 K’s. Remmington was named to the Sacramento Bee’s All-Metro Team and received its Small School Player of the Year award. Last year in a season shortened by COVID, she hit .462 and two years ago she earned CalHi Sports 1st Team All-State Underclass after hitting .401 with a .510 on-base percentage. This year her team went 23-2 and was the Sac-Valley Champions. The one time Arizona State commit is ranked in the Top 60 of the 2022 Extra Elite 100 and following in the footsteps of her sister, Preslie, who is an outfielder for the University of Nevada.

Samantha Huck

P/OF Jr. Samantha Huck, Potosi MO
Samantha had a record-breaking season as she took the Trojans to the state finals. In the semi’s she tossed a no-hitter and struck out 15 batters which erased the record of 14 she had set as a freshman. That no-hitter was only the second ever thrown in a Missouri spring semi-final game. Even more impressive, Samantha recorded 28 strikes in the Missouri State Championship in a game went 12 innings. She also threw a total of 14 straight no-hit innings in the final two state games. Sam’s list of honors includes 1st Team All-State, All-Region, All-District and All-Conference after she went 21-2 with 300 K’s in 136.2 innings versus just 24 walks. At the plate, Samantha hit .579 with a .695 on-base percentage, 42 RBIs and no strikeouts. Samantha also had 27 steals on the year.

P/IF Jr. Madison Inscoe, Nansemond-Suffolk Acad. (Suffolk) VA
Madison is a two-time Virginia State VISSA Div. II champion and helped her team go undefeated on its way to win another title. In 2021, she led her team in home runs which included hitting seven in back-to-back conference games. Madison ended her season with a .600 batting average with only one strikeout the entire season.  Her OBP was .633 along with a 1.333 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.966. Madison made no errors in the field playing shortstop or at pitcher with one of her diving putouts at shortstop being featured on ESPN SportsCenters “Play of the Day. The Auburn commit ended the season with a 0.55 ERA giving up only four earned runs on four walks for the entire season. Madison threw 107K’s in the 51 innings she pitched, to including two shutouts. She is rated as a Top 50 player in her class.

P/UT Jr. Alea Johnson, Fairhop AL
Alea was one of the most dominating pitchers in high school ball this past year as she 18-1 with six no-hitters and two perfect games while producing a 0.94 ERA and 210 strikeouts versus 29 walks on the season. Alea limited the damage by keeping batters off balance as shown by her 0.82 batting average allowed against her. With the bat she hit .348 with six home runs and 27 RBIs this year. Alea has been a dominant force since the 8th grade when she was a Class 7A All-State honoree and continues the success today. She’s ranked as the #13 player in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

P/1B Sr. Sabrina Jolin, South Anchorage (Anchorage) AK
Sabrina returns as the Alaska Gatorade State Player of the Year as the pitcher and first baseman led her Wolverines team to a 29-2 record and the Div. I state championship. The Gatorade Player of the Year went 21-1 with a 0.82 ERA and had 139 K’s in 102 innings. Offensively, she hit .451 with eight home runs, 45 RBIs and a .901 slugging percentage. The senior has signed with UNLV.

P/UT Jr. Emiley Kennedy, Lake Creek (Montgomery) TX
Emiley is a 6-foot-2 lefty ranked #21 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100 and had a stellar year both offensively and defensively. The Texas A&M commit—who gave her verbal way back in March 2018 prior to the Early Recruiting Rules going into effect—went 17-2 in the circle with a 0.20 ERA and had 201 K’s in 104.1 innings allowing just 28 hits and 29 walks. The MaxPreps All-American also hit .398 with a .423 on-base percentage and had 37 RBIs on 13 home runs. As detailed in this Extra Inning Softball article, Emiley got a late start in pitching but with her size, talent and results, she’s more than caught up.

Madison Knight

P/1B Sr. Paige Kilgore, Houston MS
Paige repeats as the Gatorade State Player of the Year in Mississippi after going 22-2 with a 1.20 ERA and 247 K’s in 145.1 innings pitched. Also a MaxPreps All-American, she led the Hilltoppers to the Class 3A state quarterfinals and offensively batted .453 with 29 RBIs. Paige has started at her school since the 7th grade and in her six years of playing varsity softball had 112 wins at pitcher. She is ranked as a Top 60 player in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 and will play next year at Southern Miss.

P/SS Jr. Madison Knight, Patterson Mill (Bel Air) MD
Madison is a 5-foot-11 righty pitcher who goes by the nickname “Mayday” but it’s the opponent that usually makes the cry for help as opposing batters hit just .116 against her and only scored six earned runs all season. Mayday led her team to the Maryland 1A State Championship where she pitched a two-hit complete game and had 14 K’s. For the season, Maddie went 14-0 with 128 strikeouts in 72 innings pitched. Offensively, she hit at a .597 clip and had 50 RBIs in 22 games with 12 home runs and only one strikeout all season. Her on-base percentage was .643 and her OPS a strong 1.935. P/IF So. Julia Knowler, Fort Myers FL
Julie received the Gatorade State Player of the Year award although just a sophomore as she batted .582 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs to go with a 1.268 slugging percentage. In the circle she compiled a 12-2 record with a 1.46 ERA and had 117 strikeouts versus just 15 walks in 96 innings. She was named the Class 5A Player of the Year because her strong performances on both sides of the ball resulted in the Green Wave winning the state championship. In the classroom, the impressive student-athlete has produced a weighted 4.15 GPA.

P/3B Jr. Kaysen Korth, Riverton UT
Kaysen earned Utah 6A Player of the Year honors as she went 11-1 with a 0.38 ERA and had 81 strikeouts while sharing time with pitcher Chloe Borges, tabbed as the Desert News Ms. Softball winner. Kaysen also batted .500 in the cleanup and 5-spots and smashed nine home runs and drove in 30 RBIs. She really peaked at the right time as she got the wins in the final three games of the Utah state tournament including Game 1 in the 6A Championship Series where she came in as a reliever. In the final four games of the season, Kaysen had 22 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.00 including a shutout, a no-hitter and, in the last championship game, threw seven innings giving up just two hits, a walk and 11 strikeouts.

IF/P Jr. Nehanda Lewis, Land O Lakes FL
Nehanda was a multi-force threat as she hit .477 with three home runs and knocked in 40 RBIs while stealing 20 bases and recording a strong .988 fielding percentage. After the primary pitcher went out for the year, Nehanda led the Lady Gators to a 5A State runner-up finish and as the same time was earning Regional track honors. Her honors included 1st Team All-State, State Player of the Year, NFCA All-Region, Sunshine Athletic Conference 1st Team and also 1st Team All-Conference in track. Nehanda volunteers with local community softball camps and also meet with kids one-on-one to work with them on infield and hitting. She is ranked #54 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

P/SS So. Jerzie Liana, Kapolei HI
Jerzie is a fast-rising prospect who is a member of the Polynesian International Team and was on the PGF All-American list too. Ranked as a Top 25 prospect in the 2023 Extra Elite 100, the Hawaiian standout compiled a 7-1 pitching record with a 1.98 ERA as she throws in the mid-60’s form the circle. Also a dangerous hitter, Jerzie batted .567 for the Hurricanes.

P/UT Jr. Hailey McLean, Spanish Springs (Sparks) NV
Hailey is a right-handed pitcher who went 16-1 with a 1.01 ERA and struck out 174 batters in 111.1 innings while batting .509 with 23 RBIs to help lead the Cougars to the Class 5A Northern Nevada title, the third year in a row the school has won it She was selected as the Northern Region 5 MVP and also is successful in the classroom with a 3.94 GPA. Away from school, Hailey helps out with local youth sports organizations and is also worked with the Ronald McDonald House charities in the Sparks area.

C/P Sr. Kynzie Mohl, Glacier (Kalispell) MT
Kyzie is a tall catcher and pitcher who was named All-State for the second time and also was honored as the Gatorade State Player of the Year and named the Class AA Western Division Offensive Player of the Year after she hit .634 and connected on 18 home runs. She also had an impressive 67 RBIs and scored 45 runs herself. Kynzie, who has signed with the in-state Montana Grizzlies, also had a stellar .706 on-base percentage and a 1.451 slugging percentage. As a pitcher, Kynzie went 8-2 and helped her team to a 23-5 record.

Paytn Monticelli

P/1B Jr. Paytn Monticelli, Cedarburg WI
Patyn is a 6-foot-2 pitcher who was named this week by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association as the Division 1 player of the year. Also named the Gatorade State Player of the Year, she helped the Bulldogs make it to the state tournament for the first time in 17 years as she went 16-3 with a 0.69 ERA and recorded 293 strikeouts in 132 innings. Half of her 16 wins were shutouts and the Wisconsin Badger commit also was a threat at the plate as she hit .420 with seven home runs, 28 RBIs and a 1.208 OPS. Born in England to a military family, she moved to the United States when she was six months old and has found her niche in softball. Patyn is ranked as a Top 70 prospect in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

P/UT Sr. Madi Ogden, Williamsburg OH
Madie had a tremendous year to finish off her high school career before she goes off to Morehead State in Kentucky next year. A MaxPreps All-American, she compiled a 27-1 record and a miniscule 0.04 ERA to help the Wildcats make it to the Div. III Regional championships game. Also honored as the Southern Buckeye Conference Division Player of the Year, she had 11 no-hitters and three perfect games as she gave up just one earned run all season. Madi helped her cause by hitting .527 with six home runs, 41 runs scored, 32 RBIs and also finished high school with a 4.0 GPA and as the valedictorian of her class.

P/UT Jr. Halie Pappion, Barbe (Lake Charles) LA
Halie had a great year going 19-1 with a 1.49 ERA and 186 K’s in 129 innings pitched and elevated her play as the Buccaneers advanced in the 5A state playoffs. In her last four games, the lefty gave up only one earned run and in the title game win had 10 K’s and no earned runs to give Barbe High the state crown for the first time in 24 years. Hali also batted .420 with nine home runs on the season and had 36 RBIs and a .471 ERA. What makes her story even more impressive is the adversity Halie had to endure to get to the top of the mountain which included a painful leg injury and surgery plus two hurricanes and a massive ice storm! Halie is ranked in the Top 40 of the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

Karlyn Pickens

1B/P So. Mya Perez, Norco CA
Norco is one of the top high school programs in the country and has produced top hitters such as Kinzie Hansen (Oklahoma), Paige Smith (Ole Miss) and Abby Lockman (Long Beach State/Tennessee). You can now add Mya, the Riverside Press-Enterprise Player of the Year, to that list. Only a sophomore in 2021, she batted .543—third highest in school history—with 11 homers and knocked in 54 runs, a Norco single-season record. Mya also only struck out four times all year and in four playoff games went 11-for-12 with 11 RBIs. She was a key force in the Cougars going 27-2 and making it to the CIF Southern Section Div. I semis and is ranked #7 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100 rankings.

P/1B Jr. Karlyn Pickens North Buncombe (Weaverville) NC
Karlyn is a 6-foot three-sport athlete who committed to the Tennessee Vols last September 1 and is known as a power pitcher who has touched 70 mph on the radar gun in the last year. She went 12-1 in the circle with a 0.41 ERA and had 207 strikeouts in 85 innings while giving up just 12 hits. She had four no hitters and, offensively, Karlyn hit .519 with five home runs, 16 RBIs and an OPS of 1.949 in large part because she drew 23 intentional walks. All-Conference in softball, basketball and volleyball, she was also the Gatorade State Player of the Year and has been selected to play in the PGF All American Futures game on July 31. Karlyn was the Extra Inning Softball National Player of the Week for April 27, 2021 after throwing a perfect game, going 4-for-5 at the plate and getting seven intentional walks in three games. She was also clocked at 72 mph in one of the games. Karlyn is ranked as the #6 prospect in the 2022 Extra Elite 100 and the #3 pitcher.

P/UT So. Keagan Rothrock, Roncalli (Indianapolis) IN
Keagan is one of the top young players in softball and the Florida commit continues to impress at all levels. She went 24-2 with a 0.13 ERA to help the Royals capture the Class 4A state championship and in 150.1 innings she had 364 strikeouts against just six walks. With the bat, Keagan hit .442 with three home runs and 21 RBIs. Among her wins, she had seven no-hitters and has also maintained a 4.03 GPA She is ranked as the #1 pitcher and the #2 overall player in the 2023 Extra Elite 100. Keagan also earned National Player of the Week honors for April 13, 2021 when she pitched 28.1 innings and had two perfect games in her first three starts with an impressive 74 strikeouts versus no walks, three hits allowed and a 0.00 ERA. Other honors for this, just her sophomore campaign, include MaxPreps and NFCA All-American honors and Indiana Player of the Year.

Maranda Runco

P/UT So. Maranda Runco, Mid Valley (Throop) PA
Maranda had a hugely successful debut season in high school as she dominated on both sides of the ball for the Spartanettes. She was named the Pennsylvania AAA Player of the Year after hitting .671 with an eye-opening .786 on-base percentage, a 1.707 slugging percentage and an OPS of 2.492 in the circle. She also smacked a state-best 19 home runs and had 49 RBIs. In the circle, Maranda went 24-2 with 205 K’s in 146 innings pitched and produced a 1.01 ERA and a .671 WHIP. The dangerous power hitter hit a home run every 3.6 at-bats and was intentionally walked 29 times. Her team finished as the District 2 AAA champions and the Pennsylvania 3A state runners-up. She also has a 4.0 GPA.

P/OF So. Avery Sapp, Spanish Fork UT
Avery earned MaxPreps All-American honors and was the Utah Gatorade State Player of the Year after the pitcher/infielder/outfielder went 21-1 on the mound with a 1.25 ERA to lead the Dons (26-1) to the Class 5A trophy. She struck out 190 batters in 123.1 innings, giving up 67 hits and 20 walks on the year, and took the title game in her own hands as she hit a three-run homer and was the winning pitcher. Offensively Avery batted .512 and hit 10 home runs with 34 RBIs.

P/1B Sr. Nicola Simpson, Garfield (Seattle) WA
Nicola put up huge numbers on both sides of the ball as she batted .778 with six doubles, 13 runs scored, 15 RBIs and a .867 on-base percentage but is equally impressive in the circle where she gave up just six hits on the season as she threw five no-hitters and had 135 strikeouts in 47.2 innings pitched. She’s been invited to play in the PGF All-American game on July 31 and has signed with Tennessee. The senior graduated with a 3.91 GPA and has been a volunteer Spanish teaching assistant as well as helping out with young softball players.

P/UT So. Jessa Snippes, Woodbury (Rosemount) MN
Jessa hit .549 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs to help lead her team to the Minnesota AAAA State title as well as the 3AAAA Section championship and South Suburban Conference crown. Also strong in the circle, she went 20-1 with a 1.19 ERA and had 216 K’s in 136.1 innings. She was honored as a MSHSL All-State selection and also was tabbed All-Metro 1st Team by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as well as earning All-Section and All-Conference honors.

P/IF So. Tayven Stephenson, St. Albans WV
Tayven is a skilled two-way player who hit .403 with 45 RBIs in 32 games and also had 11 home runs, nine doubles, four triples while compiling a 20-3 record as a pitcher with a 0.62 ERA and 245 strikeouts in 135.1 innings and allowed opposing hitters to bat just .111 against her. A commit to Kentucky, she was the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and led the Red Dragons to a Class AAA runner-up finish. Tayven was ranked #12 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100 and talks about being “all business on the field” in this Extra Star Power article.

Brook Thompson

P/IF So. Kaitlyn Terry, Greenway (Phoenix) AZ
Kaitlyn is a lefty pitcher and infielder considered one of the best two-way players in her class. She was the Gatorade State Player of the Year as a sophomore as she led her Greenway team to the 4A state quarterfinals by batting .639 with nine home runs, 45 runs scored, 12 steals and a 1.344 slugging percentage. In the circle for the Demons, she struck out 237 batters in 97.1 innings—an average of 2.44 per inning—and gave up just 29 hits and 10 walks in 20 games. Kaitlyn has a 3.4 GPA and is ranked as the #10 player in the 2023 Extra Elite 100.

P/UT Sr. Brook Thompson, Rocklin CA
Brook teamed with All-American catcher Jayla Castro to give Rocklin one of the best batteries in the country. The duo was named as the Sacramento Bee All-Metro Co- Players of the Year as the team won the Sierra Foothill League title. Brook went 11-2 in the circle and in 90 innings struck out 135 batters. Opponents only hit .136 off of her and at the plate, she hit .355. Brooke will be attending Boise State in 2022 and play for new Broncos head coach Justin Schults.

P/IF Sr. Haylee Whitesides, Byrnes (Duncan) SC
Haylee helped the Rebels win the South Carolina Class AAAAA State title this year as she went 20-1 with a 0.64 ERA and had 149 strikeouts in 101 innings pitched. The senior had also been on the Byrnes team that won the state title in 2017 when she was an eighth grader and finished her high school season off by recording 75 strikeouts in seven playoff games Haylee also was tough on the offensive side of the ball as she hit .420 with five home runs and 31 RBIs to help her cause. The state’s Gatorade Player of the Year has signed to play at Clemson

Annabelle Widra

P/SS Sr. Annabelle Widra, Spain Park (Hoover) AL
Annabelle finished off her high school career with amazing success, earning Alabama’s Miss Softball after going 20-5 in the circle with 236 strikeouts versus only 12 walks in 123 innings. With the bat, she hit .490 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs. Annabelle has been All-State five times and with take her two-way schools to Michigan after being a six-year starter in high school (she hits the major marks of 100-plus wins as a pitcher and 1,000 strikeouts). A MaxPreps All-American and the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year, Annabelle was the Extra Inning Softball National Player of the Week for March 9, 2021 when she went 9-for-12 at the plate with six home runs, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored… and that as a leadoff hitter! She also took the circle in three games pitched and went 3-0 with 30 strikeouts versus just one walk and an ERA of 0.00. She was ranked in the Top 10 of the 2021 Extra Elite 100 and she’s also been a 1st Team Extra Inning Softball All-American. going back to 2019.
