On Monday, we reported that the two top aged teams in the Scrap Yard Internationals (18U and 16U) had returned to the Texas Sudden Impact organization from where they had originated.
Todd Leach, who has continued to be the President of the Sudden Impact during the three-year merger of these two teams with Scrap Yard Internationals, has also been busy off the field in securing a big-name partnership for the club program.
“Texas Sudden Impact is excited to announce we have entered into a partnership with world-renowned pitcher Monica Abbott and her brand MA14,” Leach, who is also the 18U coach for Texas Sudden Impact, told Extra Inning Softball.
Abbott is considered as the premier international ambassador for women’s fastpitch softball and is currently a Team USA member. She also plays professionally with the Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan and signed the first-ever million-dollar deal for a woman playing on a team sport in the United States.
“Monica’s contract made history and, along with it, the opportunity to open many doors for others across the landscape of women’s professional sports,” Leach stated. “All of our players within the Texas Sudden Impact organization will benefit greatly from Monica’s mentorship, coaching, guidance, and leadership in all facets of the game.”
“Monica is an inspiration on and off the field and is extremely passionate about growing the game of softball,” the Sudden Impact leader continued. “This is truly a great time for Sudden Impact with the reunification of the 18U and 16U teams back into the SI organization and the partnership with Monica and the MA14 brand.”
Abbott added that she is excited to work with the young players and pass on to them advice and training she’s acquired in her long and illustrious career.
“My ultimate mission and goal as a professional athlete in the sport of softball has always been to grow the game at each level,” she explained. “Partnering with a travel ball organization like Sudden Impact allows the MA14 brand to continue to advance and grow the game and the opportunities in it for athletes, coaches, and families alike.”
The legendary Tennessee Vols pitcher, who was the 2007 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and still holds multiple single season and career DI marks including all-time bests for career wins (189) and strikeouts (2,440),
“I personally look forward to reaching each age group, from 10U through 18U, with the wealth of knowledge I’ve accumulated from my 13 years of professional experiences,” Abbott, who wears #14 stated, “and to ultimately help bridge the professional and educational gap on and off the field and, therefore, empower all involved. I’m looking forward to this incredible partnership!”
Proud to announce that the #ma14 brand is now working with the Tx Sudden Impact travel ball organization!
