Working together with College Bound Jocks, Extra Inning Softball is spotlighting CBJ Players of the Month including those who have signed, committed and those who are on their way (not yet committed)!
Today, for April’s 2023’s uncommitted spotlight, we feature Amya Ramos, a talented sophomore from Florida who plays in the Atlanta Vipers travel ball organization.
Vipers Co-Head Coach Jamie Olofson told us last year that:
“There is no doubt that Amya deserves to be recognized as one of the best players in the nation.”
Coach Olofson continued:
“Amya is an amazing multi-sport varsity athlete in softball, volleyball, and weightlifting for and, as freshman, she was named the Libero for the varsity volleyball team and played her role well to help propel the team to the state finals in the class 1A division. In weightlifting, she is a powerhouse and, as a freshman, she made it to States as well.
“For the Vipers, you will see Amya playing the hot corner or controlling the game at the catcher position. On third, Amya plays fearlessly and will attack you on the bunts and handle the hardest shots hit down the line.
“Behind the plate, not only does she control the game, but she also does a great job in handling the pitchers and earning them strikes. On offense, she often hits in the 3-spot and, in clutch situations, Amya is the person you like to see up at bat with a high batting average with runners in scoring position.”
Here’s more on this standout player including her College Bound Jocks video from last year:

What are your team’s top accomplishments?
Myself—along with another teammate—have been with our team since it started. There are so many accomplishments that I’m proud of over these years. When we started, I remember our team going on a 26-game win streak and we were invited to PGF Premier Nationals (10U).
I know we were young, but that has stuck with me. Our team opted to not travel but looking back and knowing what I know now that was a huge accomplishment. In 14’s, we placed 13th overall in PGF Nationals, even without a couple of our players. I left that event seeing PGF Nationals as my favorite event ever attended and that is still true today.
In 14’s, we also won the Finesse Invitational and, in our first season at 16’s, we finished 21-8-4 and placed 5th in the Show Me the Money in Georgia.

What are your top three favorite colleges you would like to play for and why?
Troy University: I love their coaches and their personalities, and I love the campus; Auburn University: their campus is beautiful, good softball program and great coaches; and the University of North Florida: it’s close to home, the coaches are nice and I like the campus!

What are your top individual accomplishments?
- I am a multi-sport athlete and compete in volleyball, weightlifting and softball. I have been named Defensive Specialist for volleyball in 2021 and 2022 and we were the 2021 Class 1A Runner-ups.
- I have been the Top 139 pounds class lifter the last two years and the 2023 District and Regional Champion as well as two-time State Qualifier.
- I have been on varsity softball since 7th grade and a starter since 8th grade and was named Honorable Mention for Volusia/Flagler County in 2022 (as a freshman).
- I was also inducted in the National Honor Society this year.
What are your strengths in softball?
I’m very aggressive on defense and I focus a lot on just getting on or doing my job at the plate. I love to run the bases!
What is your favorite softball memory?
When my best friend/teammate and I hit back-to-back home runs in a game. She and I also did the same at a camp we attended.
Do you have any softball superstitions?
My sister and I pray before every game. I do the same routine when I come up to bat.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen happen on a softball field?
While playing in GA, the clay was wet/sticky and when I sled into the base I was stuck and then had to scoot the rest of the way on my butt.
If you could meet anyone in the softball world, who would it be?
Amanda Lorenz. Go Gators!
What is one thing you have learned from your coach that will always stay with you?
Never allow one mistake to follow another.
What is something unique about you?
I’m bilingual, my dad is Mexican.
Who is your hero and why?
My Mimi because she is hard working and determined in everything she does including her faith and she also has the kindest heart
What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy outside of softball?
I love being on my High School Weightlifting team along with Volleyball. I also enjoy reading, going to youth group and hanging with my friends.
What is your favorite quote or motto?
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” – 1 Peter 5:7 in the New Testament.
