DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off a record-setting 2023 campaign, Duke softball announced its 2024 schedule. The schedule consists of 55 regular season games across five states and Mexico, facing 10 teams that made NCAA Tournament appearances last season.
Duke opens the season in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, playing four games in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Blue Devils will take part in the first session of the event, which features four teams that competed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including two that advanced to the Women’s College World Series in June. Duke will face reigning three-time national champion Oklahoma (Feb. 8), Iowa State (Feb. 9), Nebraska (Feb. 9) and Long Beach State (Feb. 10) during the event.
The Blue Devils return home for a midweek contest against North Dakota State on Feb. 14 before hitting the road again, traveling to Miami, Fla., to meet Rutgers (Feb. 16), host FIU (Feb. 16) and Army (Feb. 17) in the Felsberg Invitational.
Closing out the month of February, the Blue Devils welcome Boston University, Elon, Michigan State and Villanova to Duke Softball Stadium for the Duke Invitational Feb. 23-25. Duke then hosts Mount St. Mary’s for a non-conference matchup on Feb. 28.
The Blue Devils then open a challenging ACC schedule with a weekend series against Syracuse Mar. 1-3 in Durham. Following a nine-game homestand, Duke hits the road for two midweek matchups against Elon (Mar. 5) and East Carolina (Mar. 6). Â The Blue Devils close out the week at home with a three-game series against South Dakota State Mar. 8-9.
A four-game road stretch opens with a midweek battle at Liberty (Mar. 12) and a conference series at Florida State (Mar. 15-17). Duke returns home for a doubleheader with UNC Wilmington (Mar. 20), before a quick turnaround for another ACC road series at Louisville Mar. 22-24.
Following that series, the Blue Devils open an eight-game stretch at home, welcoming Virginia Tech (Mar. 29-31), Charlotte (Apr. 4), North Carolina (Apr. 5-7) and Campbell (Apr. 10). Duke then travels to Clemson, S.C., to face the Tigers in a weekend series at McWhorter Stadium Apr. 12-14.
Duke closes the regular season in the Triangle, hosting Virginia (Apr. 19-21) and a doubleheader with Longwood and NC Central (April 24), before making the short trip to Raleigh to face NC State (Apr. 26-28) in the final matchup of the season.
Following the series, the Blue Devils host the 2024 ACC Tournament at Duke Softball Stadium from May 8-11.
National postseason play begins on May 17 with the NCAA Regionals and runs all the way until the Women’s College World Series, held in Oklahoma City, Okla., from May 30 – June 7.
Duke returns 16 letterwinners from last year’s team that compiled a program-best 48 wins and earned the right to host an NCAA Super Regional for the first time. The Blue Devils also welcome four newcomers in freshmen Amiah Burgess and Linh Le, transfer sophomore Aleyah Terrell and graduate transfer Dani Drogemuller.
