OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Former Oklahoma star Lauren Chamberlain announced her resignation as the Women’s Professional Fastpitch (WPF) Commissioner via a social media post today.
During her two years at the helm of the startup league, she oversaw the launch and first two seasons of competition. The league consisted of two teams in 2022 and expanded to four teams in 2023 with the Texas Smoke claiming the championship in August of this year.
“After much reflection and consideration, I put my notice in to resign from my position as the Commissioner of the WPF on July 14, 2023,” Chamberlain said in her post. “This decision wasn’t made lightly, as I have cherished every moment working alongside our incredible athletes and witnessing the support of our passionate fans.”

A staunch supporter of softball, Chamberlain had a highly decorated career at Oklahoma which saw her establish a then NCAA record for career home runs. She was a four-time NFCA All-American and four-time All-Region selection in addition to earning three All-Big 12 first team honors.
She helped lead the Sooners to the national championship in 2013, which included a walk-off home run to win game one of the Championship Series against Tennessee.
Chamberlain was a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year finalist in both 2013 and 2015.
