Rachel Del Busto, a catcher and third-baseman for the Breakers Gold 18U Labs, accepted an offer to continue her academic and athletic career with the University of Michigan Wolverines, starting in the fall of 2025.
The athlete from Chula Vista, California first picked up a glove at the age of four, and though she has participated in several sports since, softball has always been Rachel’s first love.
“I started catching at seven years old,” shared the future Wolverine. “At my first catching lesson (with my catching coach of now 10 years), she asked me, ‘What is your favorite part about catching?’ Seven year old me said, ‘The sound of the ball hitting the glove,’ and since then, I’ve grown to love and take pride in the position so much more!”

Known for commanding the strike zone, keeping pitches in control, and preventing threats to steal on the bases, Rachel’s natural athleticism and commitment to the process have paid off significantly, according to Coach Bobby Labs.
“Rachel is a student of the game who continues to want to learn and strives to be the best,” began the commit’s club coach. “If we’re talking character, she’s never down. You won’t be able to tell if she’s having a down game, you’ll just see her high-fiving her teammates in the dugout and keeping the team’s energy up. She does a great job at making everybody around her better.”
