This Sunday, May 8th, is Mother’s Day… and we want you players and coaches to help us celebrate your mom (or that key mother figure in your life, be it a step-mom, grandmother, sister, teacher, coach, mentor or someone else)!
On Sunday afternoon, Extra Inning Softball will release a special tribute addressed to mothers/mom figures wherever they may be.
This has become a tradition for us and we’ve been very moved by some of the beautiful tributes from previous years… you can read them by clicking on the links below:
- 2021 Mother’s Day Tributes
- 2020 Mother’s Day Tributes
- 2019 Mother’s Day Tributes

- In a few sentences or 1-2 paragraphs, complete this sentence: My mother means so much to me because_____________________.
- Send your tribute to us at: info@extrainningsoftball no later than Saturday, May 7, 2022 (Mother’s Day eve) at midnight EST/9 pm PST.

Hi, everyone… this is Brentt Eads of Extra Inning Softball.
As many of you may know, my mother, June Eads, passed away in January (2022) at the age of 87. I was fortunate to spend last Mother’s Day with her on a surprise trip and, thanks to Justin McLeod and Carlos Arias on our EIS staff, I was able to take a week off from life to go be with my Mom when she died on Jan. 11.
Here’s an article I wrote thanking everyone for their support at that time:
There are the occasional moments when, like on Valentine’s Day or Easter, I thought for a brief millisecond: “I have to call Mom today… and, oh…” It will be an interesting Mother’s Day but I am filled with such love and appreciation that I was raised by the greatest mom I could ever have asked for.
If I may be so bold as to ask a favor: please, everyone… take a moment to tell that special mom or maternal figure in your life you love her and appreciate what she’s done for you. It will make you feel better and will mean the world to her!

On a happier note, I loved the tribute my wife, Bonnie, did last year when she shared with me a special picture of her in her high school cross country days.
In her words:
“This photo was taken moments after I completed a cross-country race, setting my all-time personal best record of 3.1 miles in 20 minutes.”
[Proud husband note inserted here: Bonnie would help her school team win state in cross-country her senior year!]
“Needless to say, you can tell I was exhausted. My mom was so proud of me because she knew how hard I had tried to break my record over the course of three years and she cried with me.”
That, to me, is true love… and what it’s all about, from both sides!
Happy Mother’s Day 2022, everyone…
