We’re really getting into these fun “National” honor days—like yesterday we introduced our National Poetry Day contest where we’re looking for poetic player creations. Another we’re really excited about is coming up fast: next Monday, October 4, is National Cinnamon Roll Day!
Today, we’re introducing another one we’d like to get your feedback on—for those of you players, coaches and family members who drive! It’s this Saturday, Oct 2 and is National Name Your Car Day!
Just like we can name a pet, a bat or glove or anything else we own and love, some of us—sometimes sheepishly—have named our car or other mode of travel.
Our Extra Inning Softball Marketing Director Bonnie Eads, for example, has a special memory of one such named vehicle name from when she was in college.
“My roommate, Jarah (Scott) Christensen, had a little orange car that she named ‘Frankie.’ We loved that car and probably more because it had a name!”
Bonnie continues:
“Having raised two teenage daughters, I understand how girls sometimes think naming favorite things is ‘so cute’ or ‘so fun!’ My daughter, Olivia, has a PT Cruiser she calls “Blueberry!”
In honor of ‘National Name Your Car Day’ we thought it would be ‘so fun’ to hear from you!
Whether you have already named your car, or if this post inspires you to do so, please email us if you’ve named your car, truck, bike, scooter—whatever your mode of transportation! And, if available, forward a photo of you with your preferred means of getting around!
We will publish the ones we like that we think are “so fun!”
Send your entry/photo to Bonnie at [email protected] by Friday, October 1st at midnight EST.
In the subject line include ‘Car Name’ along with your name; in the body of the email include the following:
- Your Name
- Team Name
- Age
- “Name” for your Car (or Mode of Transportation)
- Background of the Pet Name (Explain Why!)
- If possible: attach a photo of you with your car or other means of movement (wearing your softball attire is preferable but not required)
