Softball is built on failure. Even the most elite hitters make more outs than they reach base, so chasing a season of perfection is a mirage that drains joy and slows growth. When parents demand flawless stat lines, players start equating worth with outcomes, not effort or improvement. The pressure narrows their focus, tightens their bodies, and turns curiosity into fear. If we want resilient competitors and confident young women, we must replace the myth of batting 1.000 with a habit of learning 1% at a time.
