Today, we profile a fast-rising speedster in that class who had played with smaller softball programs until noticed by coach Charlie Esparza, who runs the Hotshots National 14U program which has won two major events in Texas and most recently saw his team finish 2nd at Texas State Triple Crown.
“When I saw this kid,” the coach said of Emma, “I knew she was special, strong, fast and wanted to absorb everything because she wants to get better in every way.”
The coach recognized she was a raw, unknown talent with the potential to be one of the best in the 2024 class and brought her onto his team.
Along with blazing speed, Emma is so strong that she has dinged two players at practice by hitting the ball back so hard into the infield.
And she’s not so unknown now—Esparza says coaches across the country have raved about her.
“Emma’s gaining significant ground,” he added, “and you can say her stock is shooting like a rocket, which is appropriate since her father, Eddie, is a Manager for NASA, about 15 minutes away from her home.”
