U-18 Women’s National Team caps opening round with 7-0 run-rule over the Philippines
DALLAS, Texas (September 1, 2024) — Team USA improved to 5-0 at the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 World Cup Group C Stage Event following a 7-0 run-rule victory over the Philippines to close out opening round and advance to the final contest as the No. 1 seed in Group C.
Staying hot at the plate, the Eagles came out strong in game five with seven runs on 10 hits behind a perfect 2-for-2 performance from Sofia Mujica, in addition to multi-hit performances from Ella McDowell (2-for-3) and Harlie Chism (2-for-3). A double off the bat of Ella McDowell and base hits from seven U.S. batters helped propel the U.S. offense to the win. At the same time, the pitching staff of Addisen Fisher, Lexie Hames and Cameryn Harrison combined for 10 strikeouts to seal the Red, White and Blue’s fourth shutout – and second no-hitter – of the tournament.
The Eagles will close out the WBSC World Cup Group C Stage Event today at 3:30 p.m. CT with a rematch against Canada with a ticket to the 2025 WBSC World Cup Finals on the line.
