With the 2020 high school softball season approaching, TLI will be taking a look at some of the top teams in the country with the Extra Inning Scouting Report.

TLI went to the Trinity League media day at Mater Dei High of Santa Ana, CA, last week to talk to all of the league’s coaches and star players.

We finish our previews of the Trinity League with Orange Lutheran, which TLI featured on Jan. 28. For the OLu scouting report, CLICK HERE.

Tell us about your favorite moment with your high school team? I have two favorite moments. One is getting stuck in the elevator after we won the Bullhead Tournament and also of course sledding in Arrowhead on our retreat.

What have you learned about yourself in the past year? I have learned to be grateful for the things you have because not everyone will have the same opportunities that you have.

What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today? When I hurt my shoulder last season, it was tough because my trainers didn’t let me play, but it taught me to keep pushing even when things don’t go your way.

What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you? That I’m a kid at heart.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? I love playing Mario Kart.

Tell us about the reason you chose Kentucky? I chose Kentucky because it felt like a second home and I liked the coaching staff and how they interacted with the players. Overall, I thought it was a great fit and I’m glad that I chose it. #GOCATS

TRINITY LEAGUE Q&A

Taryn Lennon

Name: Taryn Lennon
Hometown: Buena Park, CA
High School: Orange Lutheran High of Orange, CA
Club Team: So Cal Athletics-Richardson 18U
Graduation Year: 2020
Height: 5-foot-6
Position: P/OF
Nickname: “T”
High School Stats/Highlights: 16-4 career pitching record and 2nd Team All-Trinity League as a sophomore.

Tell us about your favorite moment with your high school team? Beating Norco in Laughlin, NV, my sophomore year and getting stuck in the hotel elevator with the trophy!

What have you learned about yourself in the past year? Hard work builds confidence and confidence makes people great in their game.

What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today? When I was in 10U, I didn’t make the All-Star team that summer which really motivated me to never let that happen again. It taught and showed me the work ethic I have today.

What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you? I love country music!!

Do you have a secret talent/skill? My hidden talent is bowling.

Tell us about the reason you chose BYU? I stepped onto campus and I knew instantly this was going to be my home. The support system in the athletic department at BYU is something I’ve never seen before. The softball program is very special because they compete, but also strive to balance academics with intentions to build good character.
